AVO provides a virtual roaming solution that allows mobile operators to reduce roaming costs and provide cheaper roaming services for customers. Their solution uses remote SIM provisioning to switch subscriber SIM profiles to local operators when traveling abroad, providing data services. For voice, their platform routes calls to a mobile app via data, keeping the home phone number. This solution saves operators up to 60% of roaming operational and maintenance costs compared to traditional roaming agreements. They are seeking $1M investment to release their commercial platform and integrate it with five mobile network operators.

4. How it works – Data Roaming
Remote SIM Provisioning
This technology allows to upload to the same SIM-card, profiles of
different operators ”over the air”, depending on service provider needs.
Each time when a subscriber will travel to a foreign country, AVO platform will
upload to his SIM-card a profile of a local operator. So during the trip, the
subscriber will use the data from a local operator at the almost local price.
AVO will charge this usage of data from subscribers home billing system.
When subscriber will back to home, AVO will return to the SIM-card, the profile
of home operator. So he will continue to use mobile services as usual.
So far, we can provide data connection in 150 countries.
5. Virtual Voice Roaming
Virtual Voice Roaming is based on VoIP technology. It allows
subscribers to use the home mobile number for incoming and outgoing calls
over data connections.
When a subscriber is going to another country his home SIM-card profile
become inactive and he can’t receive anymore incoming calls, or perform
outgoing calls using his home mobile number. But he have active the data
connection from a local operator(described in ”How it works – Data
Roaming”).
AVO platform allows routing all incoming calls to the AVO app over a data
connection. Also, from the AVO app subscriber can make outgoing calls using
his home mobile number as caller ID.
We successfully tested this approach on Russian and US market with users
who prefer to buy local SIM during their trips.
How it works – Voice Roaming
6. AVO Solution Workflow
• When subscriber is abroad, the AVO platform will upload to his
SIM-card the profile with data-plan from one of the local
mobile operators;
• At the same time, from home carrier side, all incoming calls will
be diverted to the AVO voice gateway. So user will be able to
receive incoming calls on AVO app via added data connection.
• Also, subscriber will be able to place outgoing calls from the
AVO app, keeping his home caller ID.
• When subscriber will will back home, AVO platform will upload
to the SIM-card home profile, and customer will use his phone
as usual.
7. • MNO/MVNO will pay a setup fee $20 000 – $80 000
depending on subscriber base;
• AVO will charge MNO/MVNO with $0.0005 - $0.001
per min for calls performed thru the platform;
• AVO will charge MNO/MVNO with $0.5 per one GB of
data used thru the platform;

10. Competitors
Roaming hubs
Acts as intermediary interconnection agents
for multiple mobile operators. The main
benefit of roaming hubs is that they allow
operators to have roaming interconnection
with all others members using the hub's
interconnection infrastructure.
The problem is that operators still must have
signaling and billing interconnection with the
hub, and traffic interconnections with all hub’s
members.
That means that operators will have
maintenance costs for equipment and
communication lines.
11. AVO competitive advantages
Not requiring roaming agreements with other MNOs;
Not requiring SS7/CAMEL/STP interconnection with
other MNOs;
AVO will save up to 60% from roaming operational and
maintenance costs for the operator;
Global roaming coverage (for now 150+ countries
for data)
Easy integration in to operators infrastructure
