2. A couple of Allen School students were on their lunch break walking towards McDonald’s on Court Street in
Brooklyn when they saw a man with his hands in the air. He was trembling and all of a sudden he dropped to the
ground shaking . The students knew automatically that he was having a seizure because they had just learned about
seizures with their first aid instructor, Mr. Ruzicka. Allen School student’s Cassandra and Yesenia cleared the way
while another student, Farah, was on the phone calling 911 to come help this young man. You never know when
your newly learned skills will help save a life!

Attending the Allen School for Medical Billing and Coding has changed my life tremendously. It is one of
my proudest accomplishments. After being out of school for 26 years, keeping up with the demanding
curriculum proved to be a big challenge for me. I not only graduated but did so with a 4.0 GPA. I have
learned a substantial amount of valuable information which has made me more marketable to prospective
employers and has boosted my self-esteem. I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the support of the
Allen School throughout this process. Along the way I met many selfless and devoted teachers that
helped me to realize my potential as well as supportive classmates that I now call friends. Their help, con-
structive criticism, and motivation inspired me to persevere when the challenges of life and school
seemed overwhelming
My experience from start to finish with the Allen School has been a positive one. The helpful advice from
the Admissions Staff and the diligent follow through of the Career Services Department provided for a
smooth transition from student to graduate to employee. I graduated on December 18, 2011 and landed a
job on January 5, 2012. I am now an Admissions Coordinator of a 90 bed skilled nursing facility at Abbey
Delray South in Delray Beach, Florida. There are so many people to thank for my success not only from the Allen School but
also my family. The endless support and motivation from my two loving daughters, the encouragement and advice of my
sister to pursue a new career path and the endless reassurance from my boyfriend gave me the resolve that I needed to suc-
ceed. I thank you all and appreciate all of your cooperative efforts for without you this success story would not exist. I look
back on my astonishing journey as a student in 2011 with the Allen School and look forward to my new journey as an Admis-
sions Coordinator in 2012 with the same optimism, passion, and determination.
