Tameka Bembridge is a medical assistant who graduated from the Allen School of Health Sciences in Brooklyn in May 2013. She started the program in 2012 to create a better life for herself and her children. For a school project, her class had to raise awareness for a cause and chose homelessness. Tameka became passionate about the issue after learning that many homeless women and girls ended up that way due to sexual abuse and domestic violence. She and her classmates raised $600 for Providence House, an organization that helps women become self-sufficient, which the school matched to $1,200 total. Tameka continues volunteering with Providence House by collecting toiletries and making care packages for mothers to let them know someone cares
