The story of the Headless Horseman
• Name: Franco Felicioli, Matias Marin, Facundo
. Paolini and Facundo de la Fuente.

• Course: Second Advanced.
Chapter One

           The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow

• The story is about a town called Tarry Town. There was
something strange about the people who lived in Tarry
  town.
• The people believed in spirits and ghosts.
• They believed in the Headless horseman.
• This legend was about the spirit of a soldier, who was
killed in the war. The horseman´s head was shot off.
• The horseman rode back every night to look for his
  head.
Chapter Two

                  The Schoolmaster

• The schoolmaster of sleepy hollow was a man named
  Ichabod Crane.
• He couldn’t buy a house. So he stayed in the farmhouse
  of different farmer.
• He had a book about spirits. Ichabod taught a group of
the young people to sing psalms.
Chapter Three

                 Ichabod and Katrina
• One day, Ichabod knew Katrina. She was Van Tassel’s
only daughter. So when her parents died, Katrina was
  going to inherit the farm.
• Ichabod liked Katrina. She was eighteen years old.
• Ichabod visited the Van Tessels´ farmhouse. He saw
  many animals and vegetables.
• He thought about huge and wonderful dinners.
• This place is perfect, he said to himself: “If I marry
Katrina, I´ll have an easy life”. I won´t have to work.
Chapter Four

                      Brom Bones
• Brom Bones was a man who admired Katrina.
• He was very different to Ichabod.
• Brom enjoyed playing tricks on people. He was not a
bad man, but he liked to have fun.
• He was a very brave young man and he was an exellent
  horse rider.
• One day, the schoolmaster was invited to a party at the
Van Tessel farm. Brom also was invited to a party.
Chapter Five

                         The party

• Ichabod spent a long time getting ready for the party. He had
an old black suit of clothes. It was his only suit.
• Hans Van Ripper owned the farm where Ichabod was staying
that week. Ichabod asked to borrow a horse from him. The
farmers decided to play a trick on the schoolmaster.
• But when Ichabod saw the horse, he was very surprised. It
was old and thin, and it had only one eye. Ichabod was not a
good horse rider. The horse was named Gunpowder.
• At last, Ichabod arrived at the Van Tassels´ farmhouse. But
soon, Ichabod had an unpleasent surprise. Brom Bones was
  also at the party.
• When Brom Bones saw Ichabod, his face became angry. After
the meal, nearly everybody danced. Ichabod started dancing
with Katrina. Brom did not dance.
• The started talking about the Headless Horseman.
Chapter six
                          A Terrible race
• It was almost midnight. Ichabod rode Gunpowder slowly along by
the side of some high hills.
• As he rode along, the schoolmaster remembered the ghost stories
that people had told at the Van Tassels´lonely and afraid. In front of
him, a huge tree stood by the side of the road.
• During the war between Britain and the American Colony, a British
soldier had hidden in the tree. His name was Major André. The man
was a spy, an he was hiding from some American Soldiers.
• Ichabod remembered this story. Suddenly he stopped singing. He
  had heard a noise.
• This danger was more terrible than the tree.
• Move, you stupid animal! the schoolmaster shouted. He shouted at
the horse and he kicked it again and again. A huge black shape
was standing in front of him. The hair on Ichabod´s head stood up.
  His body shook.
• It had the shape of a large man on a huge black horse. He ran back
  to the road.
Chapter seven
                   What happened to Ichabod?
• Ichabod´s pupils waited at the schoolhouse all morning. But the schoolmaster did not
    come.
• “The Schoolmaster has disappeared”. The men looked for Ichabod for along
time, but they could not find him.
• Ichabod´s hat was on the road near the bridge. Beside the hat, there was a very
large, soft pumpking. The big, round, yellow fruit was about the size of a man´s head.
    It was broken.
• The water in the river was very black and deep near the bridge. Hans Van Ripper
looked at it sadly. The men looked in the river, but they could not find Ichabod.
• Ichabod had no family, and he did not own money to anybody. So the people of
Sleepy Hollow forgot about him quickly. Soon, another teacher came to take
    Ichabod´s place.
• “Ichabod Crane was taken away by the Headless Horseman” They say.
• Ichabod Crane is alive, the farmer said. “I saw him in the New York. I talked to him.”
• “He left Sleepy Hollow secretly” he told me that himself. He was afraid of the
    Headless Horseman.
• “Is this man´s story true?” The people of the valley asked each. “Is Ichabod Crane
    really still alive?”.
• Brom Bones married Katrina Van Tessel. They were very happy together and they
    had many children.
