Alyssa Brewer Human Strengths and Weaknesses.
Strengths and Weaknesses Vice Virtue immoral conduct; depraved or degrading behavior conformity of one's life and conduct to moral and ethical principles; uprightness; rectitude. Duty Ambition an earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, as power, honor, fame, or wealth, and the willingness to strive for its attainment the binding or obligatory force of something that is morally or legally right; moral or legal obligation.
Virtue“conformity of one's life and conduct to moral and ethical principles; uprightness; rectitude. “ Virtue is when someone decides to commit to being the best they can be, and trying not to do anything wrong. They never fight, they decide to share. They never hate, they decide to love. Having virtue means to be the best person someone can be. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/virtue
Virtue “There is but one pursuit in life which it is in the power of all to follow, and of all to attain. It is subject to no disappointments, since he that perseveres, makes every difficulty an advancement, and every contest a victory; and this is the pursuit of virtue.” ~CHARLES CALEB COLTON, Lacon Charles Caleb Colton was an English cleric, writer, and collector. He was well known for his eccentricities. Charles Colton published Lacon, or Many Things in Few Words, addressed to those who think, and Lacon, Vol. II. He wrote Napoleon, and was under the title of The Conflagration of Moscow. In Paris he printed An Ode on the Death of Lord Bryon.
Virtue “Virtue is praised, but hated.  People run from it, for it is ice-cold and in this world you have to keep your feet warm.”  ~Denis Diderot. Rameau's Nephew, 1762 Denis Diderot was a French philospher who spent 26 years writing letters and as a chief and editor, completing seventeen volumes of text and eleven of illustrations for L'Encyclopédie.
Virtue The previous slide shows a collage that has a cute virtue quote but a cute virtue symbol as well. There is also a picture that represents what virtue entails and three other pictures that are promoting helping people. The picture in the middle is a man walking “into the light” because having virtue helps you go to a better place. Many of the pictures I chose are white, which I believe I did subconsciously because white is pure, and so is virtue.
Vice“immoral conduct; depraved or degrading behavior” When you have a vice, it is a behavior, action, or thought that is frowned upon. Whether it’s a bad habit, stealing, or a wanting of something that is not yours, all are vices. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/vice
Vice “Every vice has its excuse ready.” ~PubliliusSyrus PubliliusSyrus was a Latin writer of maxims. All that is left of the once slave, who won freedom of his master due to his wit and talent, are his works is in a collection called Sentences. In Sentences, are a series of moral maxims in iambic and trochaic verse. There are about 700 genuine verses in this collection.
Vice “It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues”. ~Abraham Lincoln Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States of America. He gave the nation equal rights, liberty and democracy. He lead the country through many hardships and ended slavery.
“Every vice has its excuse ready.”
Vice This, to me, is an extremely powerful slide. It covers drug abuse, habits, jealousy, bad decisions, and physical abuse. With that comes with mental and emotional devastation, causing terrible harm to one’s body and life. The quote I chose for that slide is also powerful because usually, people do not like to talk, confront, or fix their own vices. I used darker pictures because this a depressing topic and slide.
Ambition When you have an ambition, it is an idea to do something great and new, and having the determination to follow through with it. It could be riding a bike, being the top of a class, or becoming Prime Minister, when you want to do something and will do anything to complete it, you have the ambition. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ambition “an earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, as power, honor, fame, or wealth, and the willingness to strive for its attainment”
Ambition “Ambition is like love, impatient both of delays and rivals.” ~Buddha Siddhārtha Gautama was a spiritual teacher who founded Buddhism. His teaching can be found in Pali Canon, and Agamas.
Ambition “Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson Ralph Waldo Emerson was an American philosopher, lectuer, essayist, and poet. His first essays were said to be his most important. Some of these were Essays: First Series, Essays: Second Series, Self-Reliance, The Over Soul, and Circles. He is best remembered for leading the Transcendentalist Movement and his thoughts on individualism.
“Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it.”
Ambition The last slide shows that sometimes a goal can be hard to reach and scary to complete, but the result is happiness and joy. The quote again is powerful, matches the pictures, and is completely true, through and through. I used colourful pictures for my collage because ambition is the pursuit of happiness.
Duty“the binding or obligatory force of something that is morally or legally right; moral or legal obligation. “ A duty is when you have a certain job and it is your responsibility to see to it and through it. It could be a job that you want to do, or one that you want to do out of the goodness of your heart. A duty could also be part of your job that is part of a “contract”. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/duty
Duty “In doing what we ought, we deserve no praise, because it is our duty.” ~JOSEPH ADDISON, Cato Joseph Addison was an English essayist, poet, politician and playwright. He founded The Spectator with his friend Richard Steele.
Duty “Every duty is great; great, because it tries our principle; great, because for the time being it tries our loyalty to conscience, and our energy and will.” E. H. CHAPIN, Living Words Edwin Hubbell Chapin was an American preacher, editor of the Christian Leader.
“In doing what we ought, we deserve no praise, because it is our duty.”
Duty The last collage shows pictures of soldiers, guards and firefighters doing their duty. There are pictures of children caring for one another, not because they are obligated to, but because they want to. I used colourful pictures because it is a happy slide, and the pictures of the kids are in the front because they are for sure doing what they are doing out of love. The quote is a saying that I will remember and keep with me from now on.

  • 10. Vice “It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues”. ~Abraham Lincoln Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States of America. He gave the nation equal rights, liberty and democracy. He lead the country through many hardships and ended slavery.
  • 11. “Every vice has its excuse ready.”
  • 14. Ambition “Ambition is like love, impatient both of delays and rivals.” ~Buddha Siddhārtha Gautama was a spiritual teacher who founded Buddhism. His teaching can be found in Pali Canon, and Agamas.
  • 16. “Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it.”
  • 17. Ambition The last slide shows that sometimes a goal can be hard to reach and scary to complete, but the result is happiness and joy. The quote again is powerful, matches the pictures, and is completely true, through and through. I used colourful pictures for my collage because ambition is the pursuit of happiness.
  • 19. Duty “In doing what we ought, we deserve no praise, because it is our duty.” ~JOSEPH ADDISON, Cato Joseph Addison was an English essayist, poet, politician and playwright. He founded The Spectator with his friend Richard Steele.
  • 20. Duty “Every duty is great; great, because it tries our principle; great, because for the time being it tries our loyalty to conscience, and our energy and will.” E. H. CHAPIN, Living Words Edwin Hubbell Chapin was an American preacher, editor of the Christian Leader.
  • 21. “In doing what we ought, we deserve no praise, because it is our duty.”
