News Release
Once again, The Blue Plum Organization is coming to Founders Park. ‘The Hip Abduction' and
'Dustbowl Revival' are among the headliners this year.
The two-day festival is filled with events for the whole family, according to Blue Plum
Organization president Tracy Johnson.
One of the things we hear so often is that the Blue Plum Festival has something for persons of all
ages,” said Tracy Johnson, president of the Blue Plum Organization.
“This year is no exception. In addition to music, arts events, and food, we have a number of fun
activities planned for children.”
The festival consists of a 5K race, two days of music, art and craft vendors, children’s area, food
court and much more. The goal is to create events that families and friends can enjoy and make
memories for years to come.

History
The Blue Plum Festival began in 1999 with the idea of bringing awareness to downtown Johnson
City- and having a little fun! We have watched our downtown flourish and continue to bring the
festival to the greater Johnson City community each year- highlighting our growing and thriving
downtown area.
Products/Services
We produce four events each year in the Downtown Johnson City area that bring the community
together and promote health, community and the arts. The Blue Plum Organization is a not for
profit 501c3 organization.
The Blue Plum festival- began in 1999 with the idea of bringing awareness to Downtown
Johnson City. The festival consists of a 5K race, two days of music, art and craft vendors,
children’s area, food court and more. Our goal is to create events that families and friends can
enjoy and make memories for years to come.
Johnson City Christmas Parade- People of all ages come out to see the floats, dance teams, and
local high school bands perform. The best float wins prize money to donate to a Non-Profit of
their choice. The parade goes through downtown Johnson City.
Bunny Hop 5k- The Blue Plum Organization hosts the Bunny Hop 5k and Kids’ Dash. These
events are followed by an East Egg Hunt sponsored by local churches.

3. In 2016, the Blue Plum Organization board voted to donate a portion of the proceeds from the
2016 Festival to the Johnson City Public Art Committee for the mural completion project in
downtown Johnson City.

2. Facebook- Next, Blue Plum can release the lineup of the performers, alcohol wristbands,
and night life.
3. Facebook Live- Going live at the event during peak time will intrigue those who are not
at the festival. They can see what they are missing out on.
4. Twitter- Twitter is where most people go for news information. The Blue Plum
Organization will tweet about the festival, events, times, and dates.
5. Twitter- The Blue Plum Organization can tag news accounts, such as JC Press, because
those pages have over 10k followers. Retweeting will be an efficient way to notify
followers.
6. Instagram- Instagram has been successful for JC businesses to connect with their
followers. Blue Plum page could team up with another local business and share with each
other’s followers about festival information.
7. Instagram- Creating a hashtag to put on all Festival posts will give viewers/followers a
peak of what will be going on. Hashtags form a community and will create interest.
8. Instagram Live- Like Facebook, going live on Instagram will create urgency to be at the
event.
5. Photo Opportunity Sheet
Day 1- Photos of participants before, during and after the 5k race. Next, capture all of the
children who are participating and enjoying the events. Also, it will be important to capture
every performer/band throughout the day. Then, take pictures of art work and the delicious food
that will be offered.
Day 2- This event’s goal is to bring families together, so it is important to photograph families
who are enjoying the festival or any group who came together. Everyone loves photos of
children eating messy food, so that will be a must. Capturing the night life will also be important.
Although the music is playing all day, people cut loose at night, especially with some alcohol in
them. However, it is important to keep the photos appropriate.

First off, The blue Plum Organization would like to say thank you for the support over the last
few years. This organization started back in 1999 to give back to the community and support

Plum Festival, we hope for the community to see the growth of Johnson City each year. This
