Introductions
Our approach towards imagery is fully supported by the ArcGIS Platform. First (click), ArcGIS has the capability to manage unlimited amounts of imagery content. A robust information model facilitates the storage of imagery so that it can be readily found and used for the creation of multiple products all without reformatting or otherwise increasing storage requirements. This imagery is shared across the platform as Esri Imagery Services or as various OGC services such as WMS or KML. Second (click), numerous analytical tools are available to correct, analyze, and extract both 2d and 3d information products from the imagery services. Many analytical tools can be set to operate on-the-fly to reduce duplication of data. As services (click), original source data and derived products can be displayed or manipulated by various maps and apps created by ArcGIS Online or via runtime applications.

Enterprise Imagery Management is fundamental to working with imagery in ArcGIS. At the heart of this capability is an Imagery Information Model known as Mosaic Datasets.
