With the increasing demand for individuals entering the workforce with cloud computing experience, AWS Educate provides an academic gateway for the next generation of IT and cloud professionals. AWS Educate is Amazon’s global initiative to provide students and educators with the resources needed to greatly accelerate cloud-related learning endeavors and help power the entrepreneurs, workforce, and researchers of tomorrow. AWS Educate provides four pillars of resources — at no cost --to educational institutions, educators or students. These pillars include: AWS credits for free access to AWS technology; content provided by AWS and by renowned educators around the globe to help educators build new courses or inject into existing ones; training materials to help educators and students build competency on AWS and cloud computing; and collaboration tools to share best practices and connect the community. This webinar will provide you with an overview of this brand new global initiative, including: background on why we launched the program; a description of the program; its value proposition to educational institutions, educators, and students; and a demonstration of the AWS Educate resources.

Good Afternoon – you are all very welcome to this final public sector track.
My name is Giulio Soro, and I’m a Solutions Architect working with our Public sector customers In EMEA.
I have been with AWS for 1 year, before I worked within the public sector for 10 years, both as a project manager in the local government and as a researcher in the univerisity, so I am aware of some of the challenges that you may have managing IT and development for our citizens, students and researcher.
My role in AWS, indeed, is to help customers in the public sector on their journey to the cloud in order for them to be successful and benefit of the flexibility and agility of Amazon Web Services.
This session talk is around the innovations that AWS is driving for the research institute around the world, and we’re going also to see some of the examples that we have here, in Europe with the aim of sharing with you the stories of these organization using AWS.
There are three major drivers I’d like to talk you about:
We have a skills gap for cloud and AWS
So in typical Amazon style wed like to get a program working at scale to help create University graduates leave uni with AWS skills and experience rather than drip feed the skills shortage issue with a few ad hoc AWS grants
