1. On way my media product represents particular social groups is with
the use of photography:
In many of the photos featured in my magazine the band members
are posing in a hostile way to portray a hard rock vibe, however in
other photos of my magazine the same people are shown in a calm
and enjoyable manor, this was done so that the feel of the magazine
was not entirely focused on rock, rock is stereotypically very
aggressive, however with my magazine being aimed more at
alternative/indie or punk music the use of different photos represents
that genre of music as being slightly heavy and hostile like rock but
still very pleasant and happy.

2. This is also shown in the photography
with the use of colour and clothing,
while taking my photos I made sure
that the people featured in the photos
were dressed as bright as possible,
this was to represent the
stereotypical dress sense of the
alternative or punk music scene, as
being very bright vivid and retro. Also
during my research I found that the
stereotypical dress sense in the indie
scene is wearing many accessories
such as hats, scarves, sunglasses,
tie, so I made this apparent when I
was taking my photos, so that the
photos would represent that
particular social group.

3. Another way in which my magazine represents particular social groups is
that the majority of my photos feature males between 16-18 which as found
in my research Is the stereotypical age and gender for someone to read my
magazine and in the that social group.

4. My magazine also represents particular social
groups with the use of colour, my cover features
rather simplistic colours of grey but still has the
very vibrant vivid appearance with the use of a
very bright green and yellow, as my magazine
progress more and more vibrant colour is used
especially on my double page spread as many
paint splats ect. are used this represents the
social group that my magazine is aimed at
‘indie/alternative’ to be very bright and colourful
and makes the magazine seem more punky. Also
in my magazine I have used various Photoshop
features to represent a particular social group,
through my magazine I have used a Polaroid
effect/border on many of my photos, this gives the
magazine a slightly hipster vibe which is often how
my target audience is represented, and in my
double page spread I have used simple image of
cardboard and tape, I feel that this gives off a very
urban vibe which is one way in which my
particular social group is represented
