How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
1. A power point showing which new media technologies that I have used!
2.
3. Text, as this allowed me to put writing onto my pages, otherwise my pages wouldbe plain with nothing on it, apart from images!
4. Clone Stamp Tool, which allowed me to fix my DPS image as before I had editedthe image, some parts of the grass were a bit messy due to my dog! So this allowedme to fix the image, so it was more presentable and worked better!
5. Rectangle tool, as this allowed me to place a strap line at the top of my front cover and DPS, so I was able to advertise more artists I was including, and also add information about where to find more information about Katie Budd – the ‘new acoustic singer.’There were many other tools I used within this programme, but I don’t want to go into everything! It took a lot of time to get used to using this programme as when creating our Pre-lim task, it was the first time I had ever used the programme! After working out how to use the certain tools in a good way, it made creating my magazine more enjoyable as beforehand, I had no idea what I was doing, so I wasn’t able to create my pre-lim task to the best potential, however as you can see – my skills with this programme have improved, and therefore made my finished product very rewarding, as I was proud of it.
6. I used slide share a lot during this time because it allowed me to create power points with information on, and then present it in a nice neat way without taking up too much room on my blog. I used this for my deconstructions in the posts right at posts the beginning of the blog, so it reduced the space the post took up. Blogger is the main internet page I used. This is because, as you can see, I used it to upload and keep record of my progress during the creation of my music magazine. I updated my blog on a regular basis so you reader is able to see the changes I have made during this time, or some research I have foundthat has changed the way I have produced one of my pieces. With the use of polls, it made my creation of my magazine a little easier as it allowed me to gain some feedback on two of my decisions I wasn’t sure whether to use. I had never used Blogger before, so at first I found it confusing, but after some time I found it easier to use, and liked the idea that you are able to personalize your blog to how you want. When I did my photo shoot, I used camera to take the photos I needed. I then uploaded them onto my computer, and used my memory stick to back them up. Not only did I use my memory stick for my images during the first half of producing my magazine, I also have used it to back-up my front cover, contents and DPS, in case something happened which could cause me to suddenly lose them. This also allowed me to come home and further work on my pieces of work, to improve them in case I had run out of time during the lesson. I also used a scanner to upload a few of my pieces from my blog. For example, my filming schedule, my plans of my front cover, contents and DPS as I had drawn on some paper as it was easier to produce these like that.
7. When I created my questionnaire, I used Microsoft Word to do this as it allows you to create items like this easily, with no hassle. I then used Microsoft Excel to produce the results into pie charts to show the data in a clear and precise way. Both of these are quick and easy to use, therefore I found it useful to use some programmes which I had seen/used before, compared to most of the others which I hadn’t. I had never used Photo bucket before, but I found it useful for when I wanted to show my images from my photo shoot. I think this made it look professional, and it was easy to use - once you had figured out where to find the tool to create the slideshow of images! It is similar to slide share apart from this allowed me to show my images, and it continuously goes through them rather then having to click to move onto another slide with slideshare. I used the internet to research for various different information I need to look for, the search engine I used was Google as I find it the easiest to use, and follow. I used 2 internet explorers, which were Firefox at home, whereas I used Safari at school on the Max. I also used YouTube to upload my various webcam entries I have posted on my blog with myself talking about my media work. I used dafont so I was able to use a variety of fonts for my front cover, contents and DPS. I also carried these fonts through to follow on with my house style, to show that the pages were also linked. I hadn’t used dafont beforehand, so I found a website that I will use in the future as it was very useful, and easy to use.
