• Massachusetts is on the east coast of the United States.
Massachusetts is the 7th smallest state in size, but 15th
largest in population. It is the 3rd most densely populated
of all the 50 states.
• In 2015, about 6.8 million people lived in Massachusetts.

Massachusetts is traditionally industrial, but has a
predominantly urban population. Its many, diverse
manufactures include: electrical and electronic equipment,
industrial equipment, technical instruments, plastic products,
paper and paper products, machinery, tools, and metal and
rubber products. Shipping, printing, and publishing are also
important, and the jewelry industry dates from before the
American Revolution.
