16th century. In Spain the Laúd is older that the Vihuela.

period rest the Europe .
Also the Vihuela has got a very similar form to that of the
guitar, the Vihuela was very successful in the Peninsula
Ibérica in the 16th century.
Materials and shape
The Vihuela was made wood and has got a 6 or 7 strings, the strings was made
intestine of the animal, the first string was simple.
The Vihuela has got form the 8 and it was size similar to guitar.
