Ujjwala Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) aims to safeguard the health of women & children
by providing them with a clean cooking fuel – LPG, so that they don’t have to compromise
their health in smoky kitchens or wander in unsafe areas collecting firewood.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra
Modi on May 1st, 2016 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. Under this scheme, 5 Cr LPG connections
will be provided to BPL families with a support of Rs.1600 per connection in the next 3
years. Ensuring women’s empowerment, especially in rural India, the connections will be
issued in the name of women of the households. Rs. 8000 Cr. has been allocated towards
the implementation of the scheme. Identification of the BPL families will be done through
Socio Economic Caste Census Data.
PMUY is likely to result in an additional employment of around 1 Lakh and provide
business opportunity of at least Rs. 10,000 Cr. over the next 3 Years to the Indian Industry.
Launch of this scheme will also provide a great boost to the ‘Make in India’ campaign as all
the manufacturers of cylinders, gas stoves, regulators, and gas hose are domestic.
The launch of PMUY in Ballia was followed by launch of the scheme in Dahod in Gujarat
by Petroleum Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan & BJP President Shri Amit Shah. PMUY
has also been launched in several districts in UP & Bihar.

Atal Pension Yojana
In an effort to help the unorganized section of the Indian society, the
Government of India introduced the “Atal Pension Yojana” in June,
2015. The Atal Pension Yojana is administered by the PFRDA (Pension
Fund Regulatory and Development Authority) under the National
Pension System (NPS). The scheme was launched to encourage
individuals from the weaker section to opt for pension, which would
immensely benefit them during their old age. The Atal Pension Yojana
scheme can also be taken by individuals working in private sector
organisations or by anyone who is self-employed. The Atal Pension
Yojana scheme helps the weaker section to save up for their old age
and get a guaranteed monthly pension amount. Under this plan, the
subscriber will receive a fixed pension after the age of 60, depending
on his contribution amount and tenure.
Eligibility
•The scheme benefits can be availed only by the citizens of
unorganised sector.
•Bank account in must to get enrolled under APY. If you do not
have any bank account then you can open zero balance savings

•Subscriber can contribute every month/quarter/half yearly in
order to receive monthly pension after 60 years.
•Sooner someone joins, lower would be the contribution to be
made and vice versa.
Benefits of Atal Pension Yojana
•Subscribers of APY will get monthly pension after they reach
the age of 60 years. If someone joins at the age of 18 years
and contributes Rs.42 till he reaches 60 years, then monthly
pension received would be Rs. 1,000.
•Pension amount will range from Rs.1,000 – Rs. 5,000.
•Auto-debit facility will also be provided. With this monthly
contribution would be automatically debited from the
subscriber’s account.
