3. MY HOPES FOR THE FUTURE OF EDUCATION
• High student achievement
• Lower dropout rates

• Students happy in their careers
• Higher job prospects for college student outcomes
• More fun
4. EMERGING ISSUES IN EDUCATION
• Less funding in higher education
• Technology taking over education
• Quality control in the classroom through measurement
• Too much of a good thing– low employment prospects for college
students
• Globalization of learning – students need to know about the world
• Availability of distance learning
5. WHAT IS RIGHT WITH EDUCATION NOW?
• Great availability of technology with student engagement
• Great data available about student achievement
• Large amount of spending per student – biggest in history
• Inclusiveness and diversity
• Greater connections between schools and universities
• Great extra-curricular activities
• Great relationships between students and teachers-professors
• Attempts to mitigate illiteracy and poverty
6. WHAT IS WRONG WITH EDUCATION NOW?
• Too many standardized tests
• Many educational institutions spend too much money
• Many great teachers leave profession because of lack of professional
development and salary
• Students have very little connection between their education and their
careers
• Too many students are sent through curriculums they do not belong in
• No accountability with how money is spent
• Students have little to no flexibility with which schools or education
they really want
• Very little on-the-job training for people who successfully graduate
• Students do not study enough STEM areas at school
7. SOLUTIONS TO EDUCATION
• Make schools smaller
• Have more checks and balances in school spending and increase
funding to reverse budget cuts
• Encourage students to study more STEM areas at school and integrate
these topics into curricula –TPACK Formula
• Value the education profession more by including higher salaries
• Provide better school to college to career pathways that guarantee jobs
at the end
• Decrease tuition in higher education
• Increase literacy—make schools have more access to
• Acknowledge that students learn differently– Sir Ken Robinson
