Companies and Institutions that have embraced corporate social responsibility contribute
a lot to making other people's future better and brighter. Challenges that are part and parcel of
our day-to-day life are the key contributors to this institution's positive thought to help out in
different areas that they are comfortable in. Many people who were beneficiaries of the corporate
social responsibility program have emerged as very successful. In the end, they also created
platforms for people to benefit just like they did themselves, and it's a great honor to repay good
with good. As much as corporate social responsibility aims to help people, it may be used as a
profit or a non-profit business model.
Blake Mycoskie is the founder of TOMS shoes, was moved by how children in Argentina
from needy backgrounds suffered just because they could not afford a pair of shoes, and this
became his biggest motivation to start his company. He introduced a concept that was known as
"one for one." For every pair of shoes, he sold one was donated to a needy child in different parts
of the world. Many people loved his idea of helping, and the business grew tremendously
because so many are generous and would love others to get the help. The model that Blake used
was unique because every free shoe price was incorporated with the one purchased, contributing
to the business is profitable.
The success of the TOMS shoes made it possible for Blake to create another equally
beneficial program to the community, which included restoring people's eyesight. When the
business expanded, Blake innovated eyewear, and instead of donating a pair of glasses once it is

sold, he decided he will restore people's eyesight in developing countries. He aimed at
developing countries because they are not able to access such services or even afford them.
Hence, the fact that he came up with that initiative was very heartwarming to many. Research
shows that more than 275000 people have gotten their eyes restored, and this is quite a blessing
for many to get to see one more because of TOM’s eyewear (Mycoskie, 2011).
On the other hand, the Patagonia Company deals with clothing; they design a product,
test it, and sell it. They look for upcoming companies that can deliver exactly what they ask for
and support them in making the products they intend to have a reality. Patagonia pays these
companies to produce the fabric needed for different designs and processes to ensure the clothing
comes outright. They should have the equipment needed and have the technical experience. This
company vets very keenly on companies that aim at benefiting the community in every way
possible, which is by producing quality clothing, having fair prices, being financially stable, and
having enough staff, thus creating jobs for the unemployed.
Upon revising the codes of conduct in the year 2013, Patagonia partnered with fair trade
USA. Through this act, they were able to supplement worker's wages and provide the benefits
that could impact their very existence. The extra money goes to the factory workers for every
item with the fair trade label that is purchased. This extra money they are entitled to spend
however they think will benefit them, and it's a way to uplift the spirit of these workers and
motivate them to work even harder (History, n. d).
According to how Patagonia implements their corporate social responsibility, it is evident that
they focus on uplifting and bettering other companies and benefiting the workers in many
different ways. In contrast, as for the TOMS shoes and eyewear, their main focus is the needy

child walking barefoot and the needy person who is visually impaired. Blake deals directly with
the problem and tries and solves it even with their program buy one book and a needy person
gets one. At the same time, Patagonia Company focuses on the well-being of companies that
manufacture.
The organization's corporate social responsibility actions are many, involving
volunteerism, environmental protection, addressing social issues, setting good moral standards,
and sustainable developments. These are issues that affect the community directly and, when
handled, become a relief to so many people. When it comes to sustainable development, the
organization in charge of handling this matter is entitled to ensure it can handle the damages,
which may be socially or health-related (Andriukaitiene, 2018). This will then create trust among
the people and give them an easy time implementing the project transparency.
“Contemporary scientific literature on corporate social responsibility" focuses on the
company profitability, ensuring that a company is in a position to gain profit to avoid being
financially unstable and running smoothly; also, if focus on the social responsibility issues that
tend to arise now and then. They provide solutions to these issues that may involve corporate
sustainability, employee welfare, and the working environment. For an organization to work
well, everything must be coordinated by ensuring unity, good communication, and a good
relationship among the employer's workmates. People working together should have good ethics
that will reflect in their works.
Environmental protection relates to everyone, whether of high or low living standards.
There are very thoughtful organizations that have taken the initiative to check on different ways
to make the environment friendly. The actions they have taken include planting trees, checking

and regulating toxic gases that may cause respiratory diseases, and ensuring that excess waste is
dealt with. These acts go a long way in many people's hearts because they are safe in their
environment and can access good air exchange and get clean water.
Successful organizations are expected to have a corporate social responsibility in their
values. They succeeded because many people depend on their services, and their profit margin is
high. Once they embrace the corporate social responsibility, they are at a much higher level to
perform better they have already because of the transparency it will behave given its clients, it
will boost the business revenues but also help that person who is lacking some resources to have
a good lifestyle(Ohio University,2020). Organizations or companies that do not embrace
corporate social responsibility are at high risk of ruining their brands, for they do not benefit
anyone else but themselves. Having a bad reputation can negatively impact the business
profitability and success for people who want something they can easily relate with.
Employers should ensure that they follow the economic obligation when implementing
corporate social responsibility to protect the company against instability and ensure profits are
recorded. They should portray the right ethics by ensuring that they are fair in their dealings.
Whatever they do will be beneficial; what the employer and team offer should be philanthropic.
It should aim to improve people's lives and provide the necessary resources they need. Obeying
the law is key; all the regulations should be followed to achieve what is expected.
