FIND OUT HOW
IT AFFECTS YOU
We are
changing
the way
we collect
your waste
Don’t worry though:
• Your weekly recycling collection including food
waste will continue. See pages 4 - 7
• We have a weekly nappy and adult hygiene
collection service – contact us to arrange
• We have a bulky waste collection service
(chargeable) – contact us to arrange
• We have a seasonal garden waste collection
service – contact us to arrange
• We offer an assisted collection to residents who are unable
to place containers/bins at kerbside – contact us to arrange
• We offer a separate textile collection - contact us for details
As you can recycle up to
75% of your household
waste, you will no longer
need a fortnightly black
wheelie bin/bag collection
so we’ve changed it to
every three weeks.
This covers most of the waste
you may have been putting
in your black wheelie bin.
Please see calendar (enclosed
in pack) to find out which day
your refuse will be collected on.
The Council is introducing a better way
of collecting your recycling And we
need your help to make it a success.
From 26th October 2015, please start using your new recycling
Trolibocs/containers (which we have delivered to you previously).
The Trolibocs has 3 stackable boxes, or where applicable, you will have
loose boxes which will be colour co-ordinated the same as the Trolibocs.
Pages 4 & 5 will tell you what recyclable items go into each box. Please see
the separate card in this pack to find out which day is recycling collection day.
In 2013/14 we recycled nearly 55% of the waste we collected. Our target is to recycle 58% by
2016. Weneedallourresidentstotakepartinournewrecyclingserviceinordertoachievethis.

step 1
Get the right equipment – you will
need a kitchen caddy, food waste
bags, and a food waste bin. Contact
us if you need any of these items,
see contact details on next page.
step 2
Line your kitchen
caddy with the bag.
step 3
Place any food waste into
the caddy, taking care to
exclude any packaging.
step 4
When your kitchen caddy is full,
empty into your food waste bin
and put out for collection once
a week so it can be recycled.
Did you know? If everyone in Blaenau Gwent County Borough
Council had used the food waste service last year,
we would have stopped the same weight as 33
jumbo jets worth of food from going to landfill.
