  4. 4. WOJEWÓDZTWO ŚLĄSKIE Katowice is a city in southern Poland in Upper Silesia, the capital of the Silesian Voivodeship. The population is 321 thousands people, and in total 3 millions people live in the agglomeration.
  5. 5. HISTORY Katowice is currently the capital of the Silesian Voivodeship of Poland. It is the center of the coal and metallurgical industries. Together with thirteen other neighboring cities, Katowice forms the Upper Silesian urban agglomeration with about three million inhabitants and the highest population density in Poland. In 1937, a parachute tower 50 meters high was built in the city for the training of young paratroopers. At that time and still this parachute tower is the highest and the only operating object of its kind. There is a legend that in September 1939, after the Polish army left Katowice, the tower was occupied by scouts - the so-called pioneers, and when the Germans tried to take the city, they fired at the enemy. Only with the help of artillery did the Germans manage to destroy the children and take the tower.

  8. 8. TOURIST FACILITIES. SILEZIAN MUSEUM Located on the site of a former mine. This is one of the largest museums in Upper Silesia - in addition to temporary exhibitions, the Silesian Museum has 7 permanent exhibitions. The museum's most valuable collections include works by the greatest Polish artists of the 19th and 20th centuries, including Stanisław Wyspianski, Jan Matejko, Józef Chelmonki, Artur Grottger and Jacek Malczewski. The ticket costs less than 30 PLN. The museum has an observation deck, but it is closed in winter.
  9. 9. SPODEK Spodek, the symbol of the city of Katowice, in the year of its opening in 1971, was the largest and most modern sports and entertainment facility in Poland. For years, the Spodek was a place of great artistic and sports events.
  10. 10. RYNEK W KATOWICACH Is the central square and landmark of the Śródmieście district of the Polish city of Katowice. Its appearance dates back to the end of the 19th century. The square has been rebuilt several times, and to this day it is undergoing some changes.
  11. 11. KOSCIOŁ MARIACKI The church in Katowice is one of the oldest. Built in neo-gothic style. A beautiful church, located on the busiest street of Katowice. Beautifully lit in the evening. Inside is a very beautiful interior.
  12. 12. SILESIAN INSURGENTS' MONUMENT (POMNIK POWSTANCOW SLASKICH) A monumental monument a little far (500 meters) from the center of Katowice. Located near the center, next to the art gallery at the roundabout. Erected in 1967 in memory of the uprisings of the Poles against the German authorities in 1919-1921. The three "wings" symbolize the 3 rebellions.

A unique historic district built in the early 20th century for coal mine workers. The atmosphere is preserved, just wonderful streets. Several famous Polish films were filmed on them.
  14. 14. LEGENDIA SILESIAN AMUSEMENT PARK is a permanent amusement park located within Silesian Park in the center of the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union, Silesia, Poland. If you want to ride amusement rides or see the city from above on a Ferris wheel, then you are here!

NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA OF THE POLISH RADIO If you have the opportunity to visit this place - you should definitely do it and enjoy the beauty of the building and its interior, as well as the acoustics, which is definitely one of the best in Europe! It is very popular and busy - so tickets for major events sell out quickly. You must look for them in advance!
