2.  Sustainable agriculture offers a much-needed alternative to conventional input-
intensive agriculture, the long-term impacts of which include degrading topsoil,
declining groundwater levels and reduced biodiversity. It is vital to ensure India's
nutrition security in a climate-constrained world.

3. INTRODUCTION
 The word “sustain” comes from the Latin word sustinere(sus-, from
below and tenere- to hold) to keep in existence or maintain, implies
long term support or permanence.
 It is a form of agriculture in which to fulfil the needs of the present
generation without endangering the resource base of the future

4. GOALS OF SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE IT
HAVE THREE MAIN GOALS
1) Environmental health
2) Economic efficiency
3) Social economic equity (community)

 Agriculture has accomplished much
 There are still many problems to solve, both old and new
 Sustainable agriculture is about trying to solve these problems –
without creating new ones.
