5.  Armenia is one of the earliest cites of human civilization.
Few countries claim as Armenia’ can a history that
begins 3,000 years ago and continues to the present.
 Armenia was the first nation to adopt Christianity as a
state religion, an event traditionally dated to AD 301.
The roots of the Armenian Church go back to the first
century.
 Armenia is an open-air museum of Christianity. There
are thousands of Christian monuments such as
monasteries, churches, chapels and cross-stones,
manuscripts, icons, etc.

seventh month the ark came to rest on the mount
Ararat." (Genesis, 8:4). During the Great flood, after
floating on waters for 150 days, Noah’s ark stopped on
Mount Ararat, and on this very day, the human race was
granted a second birth in Armenia: on Mount Ararat.
 Although the mountain is not in modern Armenia today
but it is still blessed mountain for Armenians. This
mountain has miraculous beauty, and is a symbol of the
motherland for every Armenian living in any corner of
the world.

has one of the world’s largest manuscript collections in the
world and has the largest collection of Armenian Manuscripts.
It has over 17 000 units from Armenian and foreign ancient
Manuscripts.

10. FREEDOM SQUARE
Under artistic supervision of the Opera house, where the
worlds best performers take us to their world of freedom.
This Square once assembled millions of Armenians to claim
their independence in 1988 to split from USSR.

11. GARNI
IV-III cc BC, a fortress serving as a residence for Armenian
Kings. The oldest surviving building in Armenia is the Temple
of Sun built in the second half of the I century AD.

12. LAKE SEVAN
Is known in the ancient times as the Geghama Sea, is the
"blue-eyed beauty" of Armenia. Being one of the biggest
highland freshwater lakes in the world it is 1900 m above sea
level. It was formed as a result of volcanic activity.

13. TSAKHKADZOR
In late autumn Tsakhkadzor turns to a fairy tale. Pure white
snow covers valley and downhill and magnificent beauty
tempts winter sport lovers. Tsakhkadzor is a perfect resort
for skiers: heavy snowfalls provide a resistant snow cover,
and
lots of fun for thrill-seekers and beginner.

14. Armenia is a unique country; it has over 50,000 hand-made
crosses, sculptured of rocks. A typical cross stone is made
out
of slate of volcanic basalt or tuff. In the center of the cross
stone is the symbol of Christ’s crucifixion and the wheel of
eternity.

15. The Duduk is among the oldest Armenian instruments. It has
a 1,900 year history. Duduk is a wind instrument made from
apricot timber, and thus it is called tsiranapogh (apricot pipe)
It has a warm, soft sound that is controlled by pressure of
the lips and by closing eight or nine holes with fingers.

16. Armenia is the motherland of the Apricot, is the oldes and
genuine center for growing apricot. The apricot was
imported into Europe by Lucullus, a Roman general after
the 1st century B.C. Because of its origin the fruit was
known as "prunus Armeniaca" which means "Armenian plum"

17. Humanity first tasted cognac when Noah planted first vineyard
at the foot of Mount Ararat. The modern history of Armenian
brandy started in1887. Of all Armenia's alcoholic drinks,
Cognac is its best-known product, it won its first Grand-Prix
gold medal in France in 1904, followed by 51 gold, 21 silver
and 3 bronze medals over the years.
