Kaitlyn and her twin sister Kianne has Cystic Fibrosis
4. What is Cystic Fibrosis?
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetically disorder
carried from generations to
generations.
Cystic Fibrosis can dangerously
damage the cells that produce
digestive system, mucus, and sweat. It
is an ongoing infection that later leads
to death.
The secreted mucus that’s formed
within the body usually forms a thin
and slippery mucus. Cystic fibrosis,
forms a thick and sticky mucus and it
covers up the passage ways, plugs the
secretions tubes, around the areas
such as the digestive system,
pancreas or the lungs.
This symptom also affects with weight
loss or even gaining weight as well.
5. There would be slow growth patterns seen in children and symptoms of
continuous periods of pneumonia or bronchitis would be shown. “Often children
fail to gain enough weight, slow growth patterns, chronic episodes of
pneumonia or bronchitis” (Lisa, Inclusion class-notes, week 3).
People who are diagnosed with cystic fibrosis need may in need of surgeries
and lung transplant live longer.
Before After (Cystic Fibrosis)
(Lisa,Inclusionclass-notes,week3)
6. Study shows that an estimated
amount of one in 3,600 children,
who were born in Canada has
cystic fibrosis disorder. About
4,000 Canadian children and
adults of all ages has Cystitis
Fibrosis.
They usually attend specialized
clinics based on cystic fibrosis.
These clinics are for people who
are new to disorder and would
like to know more information
for this disorder.
“It is estimated that one in every
3,600 children born in Canada
has cystic fibrosis. Almost 4,000
Canadian children, adolescents,
and adults with cystic fibrosis
attend specialized CF clinics.”
(Cystic Fibrosis Canada)
7. There have been cases where people
have been living past the age of
20’s to all the way to 50’s as well
due to the new modern technology
development.
8. Nutrition
Usually it occurs during the infancy
stage or later in adolescence or
adulthood stage. There is no cure or
therapy for this symptom so far. A
good well-nourished diet would help
a little. “No cure but medications,
therapy and a good diet helps.” (Lisa
