To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter of recommendation in strong support of Anthony Reed’s application for an
internship. I have known Anthony since the spring of 2012, and since that time, I have always known him
to be passionate about the large and diverse field of sport management. Thus, upon receiving a request
from him to write a letter of recommendation, I jumped to the occasion, knowing that he undoubtedly has
the pedigree to succeed as an intern.
Anthony is applying to this opportunity already with a wealth of experience. For one, his undergraduate
coursework in sport management has given him the background he needs to thrive in a professional work
setting and attain his professional goals. He was one of a few standout students I had during my tenure at
Eastern Kentucky University! Besides coursework, Anthony also has previous work experience in which
he has had to manage and lead a team. During his time at EKU, he has been a residential assistant. This
required him to engage the EKU and surrounding communities, plan and execute resident activities, and
manage crises. Anthony also possesses past volunteer credentials. For instance, he has volunteered for the
Kentucky Adapted Physical Education (KAPE) program where he worked with children with disabilities
on their physical and aquatic skills. Lastly, what I believe sets Anthony apart from others is his leadership
capabilities. I witnessed firsthand how he led his group members in their end of the year project in my
sport finance course. I am confident that Anthony’s experiences, prior coursework, and knowledge have
prepared him to take on the rigors of a career in the sport industry.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that selecting Anthony as an intern would be an amazing opportunity for
him to learn from a first-rate department and acquire the essential proficiencies that will allow him to
realize his professional goals. Granted the opportunity to do so, in Anthony, you would be acquiring a
bright, enthusiastic, hard-working individual and leader who is keen on succeeding and pursuing his
ambitions.
Please feel free to contact me via email at kagyemang@lsu.edu or by phone at (214) 727-8162 if you
need me to expound upon Anthony’s credentials and potential.
