2. ACTIVITY 1
Statham was born in Shirebrook, Derbyshire, the son of Eileen (née
Yates), a dancer, and Barry Statham, a street seller turned lounge
singer. He moved to Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, where he chose
initially not to follow his father's career working the local market
stalls, and decided to pursue the arts. He grew up with football
player Vinnie Jones, alongside whom he would later go on to act.
Jones introduced him to football, and Statham went on to play for
the local grammar school (1978–83), which he had attended since
the age of eleven, a passion that he shared with diving. He
practiced daily in perfecting his diving techniques – in particular,
he finished 12th in the World Championships in 1992.He was
also a member of Britain's National Diving Squad for twelve
year.

3. Statham's life in the media began when he was spotted by the
agency Sports Promotions specialising in sports modelling while
he was training at London's Crystal Palace National Sports
Centre. Afterwards, he became a model for the clothing brand
French Connection. Spokesperson for the high street clothing
chain said "We chose Jason because we wanted our model to
look like a normal guy. His look is just right for now – very
masculine and not too male-modelly." However, he was still
forced to follow in his father's footsteps as a street seller to make
ends meet, selling "fake perfume and jewellery on the street
corners", according to Statham.

Statham was born in Sydenham, London, the son of a singer and

Li and directed by James Wong, and Mean Machine (2001), along
with Vinnie Jones.

In 2002, after performing roles, finally got a lead role, that of Frank
Martin in The Transporter. Statham also starred in the remake of The
Italian Job. After making a cameo in Collateral (2004) and work in
Cellular (2004), in 2005 he starred in the first sequel to The
Transporter, Transporter 2, Revolver (the latter film also Guy Ritchie),
and Chaos, along with Wesley Snipes. In 2006 he starred in the
movie Crank. In 2008 she starred in the second sequel to The
Transporter, Transporter 3, and in 2009 starred in the sequel to
Crank, Crank 2: High Voltage.

It has been announced that work on the films The Brazilian Job and
The Expendables, the latter directed by and starring Sylvester
Stallone.
