3. Where We Come From? Our History
In 2011, Asavela Peko emerged among the
scholars who realized out of desperation a need
to establish an organisation that would hold a
firm representation of their integral needs,
mobilise opportunities for them and drive change
in a broader perspective for them supported by
the concerned people (parents, youth and
community workers).
He then sold the power within the vision carried
by the perspective in which he viewed LEMOSA
to be as an alternative, and fortunately enough
the organisation was embraced and uphold under
the circumstances with great inspiration.
On its inception it had then to be operated in a
context that would completely take cognisance in
dwelling more in mediating and thrive to
influence for the politeness in a high school level
in particularly Masibambisane High School,
whereby everything that led to the organisation
establishment and its launch took place.
Asavela with his colleagues had never gotten any
training neither course before related to any
Duties as well as tasks that they had to deliver
based on in serving the members and
beneficiaries.
As unregistered as we were, we firmly knew and
understood the vision on a same level. From the
informal learning and limited information we
decided that we would keep the organisation
evolving and strengthen our strides in ensuring
that we are creating an impact. We centred our
vision in the heart of the basic education, and
unclear but knowing well that we had to channel
the youth and community transformation
through the education as our platform.
4. Why Do We Exist? The Scourge Of Youth Development
LEMOSA is a youth development and
community based non-profit organization;
that aims at empowering and transforming the
youth through education upholding the
following objectives:
Platform Of Change which influence for the
academic and socio-economic excellence; with
independence.
Ensures that the doors of education
and opportunities remain accessible to
the broader society.
Equip the youth with the skills that will enable
them to be responsible citizens and effective
leaders.
5. How We See Our Youth
“Every living person has some gifts or capacity
of value to others. A strong community is a
place that recognizes these…” (McKnight and
Kretzmann, 1993)
We regard our youth accordingly to the
utterances of McKnight and Kretzmann in a
manner that they are assets not liabilities. To
an extent that the power in their potential and
strength reflect how great of architects and
pioneers of change they amount to within our
their communities.
We believe that our youth are leaders in their
own full right that are leading by an example
and we reject to associate them with
utterances that mislead them such as, “youth
are the future leaders”.
We prefer doing everything with them always
hence we say: DO IT FOR THEM, WITH THEM!
“As long as we live the future is bright wile
the road is truly tortuous!” Our Slogan
Our Vision
To be a vehicle of change in the life-time we
subscribe to; through the academic and
socio-economic excellence.
Our Mission Statement
Be a platform of change which influence for the
academic and socio-economic excellence;
with independence by equipping the youth
with the skills that will enable them to be
responsible citizens and effective leaders.
6. Our Values
Our strategic values are so special and integral
in a way that are composed using the
abbreviation of the organization's name:

supporters are passionate and driven by their
Passion to thrive for the youth and community
development. Despite the challenges that
comes with the lack of resources, we believe
in the power within our vision and mission to
motivate us to deliver quality interventions
affordably to our target.
We do not accept any exceptions to the
members, beneficiaries and supporters who
are not adhering to the values we have and
surrender not in compromising of our values
for anything and anyone.
When doing our work we uphold these values:

volunteering and so on.
Changing Mind-Sets: Through the
programmes we are rendering to the
beneficiaries that are designed, planned and
implemented by them we believe that will
shape such mind-sets towards greatness and
the trainings availed to them to further have a
pivotal role in shifting the paradigms.
Tracking: We value keeping in touch with our
youth, beneficiaries, partners, supporters,
sponsors and communities to check their
progress and evaluate our value to them.
Partnerships development: In our line of
work we humbly and genuinely believe that
collaboration with structures that are serving
their beneficiaries through a vision, mission,
aims and objectives that are similar to ours we
can work with and strongly value partnering.
Recruiting and educating: We believe that
extending our volunteering base and
strengthening their personal growth and
development is the most important part and
investment that one owes to his/her being in
preparation for the world expectations.

19. Testimonial Stories and Feedback
ASHLEY ROMAN
“Asavelo has not in leaps and just focused on
himself but has also shifted things in his
community in leaps and bounds. He was
focused on his personal development and how
he could shift from his current position to a
position of meaning making for him.
He has Achieved this in a matter of three moths.
He though about how he could shift the position
of other young people in his community through
his work in LEMOSA and have seek partnership
and opportunities to achieve this. This work is
starting to reap fruits.
Asavelo, epitomise active citizenry, finding
disposition and re-positioning to serve its true
purpose. Glad to be associated with this
amazing Change Driver”. (Comment by: Ashley
Roman, Team Leader Western Cape Training
Team)
20. BUSISIWE MNENGI
LEMOSA has helped so many learners in terms
of career guide. Being a member has given me
courage that I can do more to make changes in
our community. South African Education
doesn't push the kids to strive for more but let
the learners to accept average, so for me
there's a lot that needs to be changed.
Like Township Schools instead of complaining
about the resources we don't have how about
we use the ones we have so that we can be
noticed and show that poverty doesn't define
our future.
Having organization like Lemosa
that fights for better education gives me hope
for the less fortunate to receive the best
education possible.” (Comment by: Busisiwe
Mnengi, Cape Peninsula University of
Technology – Student)
