College interview for Atlas: DIY - By Atlas member Rachelle
1. What are the basic information about a
College Interview?
2. An interview is a chance for you to meet
with someone who represents the college.
It's a great way to show your interest in the
college, to start a relationship with people
there and to show what you're all about.
3.
Why are you interest in their College?
Why do you choose your major?
Who in your life has most influenced you?
Talk about a challenge that you overcome?
What do you like to do during your free time?
What will you contribute to the College?
How would you like to see yourself in 10
years?
4. Interviewers may ask some broader questions.
For example:
If you had a thousand dollars to give
away, what would you do with it?
What's your opinion on the immigration
debate (or another topic in the news)?
If you could change one thing about your
school, what would it be?
5.
Stick to the basics.
Make sure the clothes fit properly.
Keep your hair style simple and conservative.
Accessorize with some simple jewelry.
Think about the colors that you choose.
Make sure that everything is clean and
ironed.
6.
Have a conversation. Don't try to memorize a
script.
Ask questions. Do express your interest in
the college.
Be yourself. Don't try to answer questions
based on what you think the interviewer
wants to hear.
Prepare. Do practice interviews with friends or
family. Take turns asking questions.
