Australia Day is a special day for all Australians, whether a citizen by birth or by choice, to come together and celebrate what we love about Australia. Australian citizenship ceremonies, where we proudly welcome our newest citizens, feature prominently in Australia Day celebrations around the nation. Australia Day is also the perfect opportunity for existing Australian’s to affirm their loyalty and commitment to Australia by making the affirmation. On Australia Day 2011 around 13000 people from 143 countries became citizens at 325 citizenship ceremonies around the country. Many of these ceremonies also included an Affirmation ceremony.
