2. Natural lighting is used in British
Films because it shows a sense
of realism. There are not
Hollywood like lights used to
make the actors and actresses
bright because it isn’t realistic.
British films try and put across
British realism and by having
natural lighting all the cast look
natural. Also it saves a lot of
money because you don’t have
to pay a lot for expensive
lighting equipment.
3. By having an unknown cast in a
British Film, it also gives a sense
of realism to the viewer. If you
get a big Hollywood star in a
British Film it wouldn’t seem
real because we’ve seen them in
plenty of other films. Take Tom
Cruise for example, if he was in
a British Film it would take away
the realism because he is
American and has starred in
many other big blockbuster
movies.
4. British Films use low budget
because it makes it more realistic.
They don’t pay for a huge cast,
the new cinematography or no
special effects. British films are
meant to be about real life and a
low budget helps portray this.
5. British films use realistic
setting in order to portray the
theme of realism to the
audience. They tend to use
housing estates and real life
settings instead of big
spaceships and other worlds.
This is because the audience
wouldn’t be able to believe
the story if the setting was out
of this world.
6. British actors and actresses are
told to where everyday clothing
throughout the film. This is
because they want their
characters to seem as real as
possible so the audience
watching can relate to them. If
a characters was wearing an
alien costume throughout the
film the audience would find
this silly and wouldn’t be able
to relate to it.
7. British films tend to be based on
social issues, for example,
relationships, drugs, alcohol or
suicide. British directors stick to
social issues to create a sense of
realism for the audience.
