POLL TIME
Good morning. Welcome to the BDVe webinar series. Today we have the pleasure of having two speakers who are going to present and demo the Big Data Ocean project results and advances of the application of big data solutions to the Maritime sector.
Before that, allow me to say a few words about the webinar series.
This webinar is part of a series where we will be inviting speakers from organizations and innovation projects to talk about their experience working with big data. In case you believe you have a topic of interest and would like to be speaker of one of our webinars, I take the opportunity to invite you to contact me any time.
The goal is to show the VALUE of big data both from the TECHNICAL & BUSINESS perspectives, as well as touching topics of interest for our community, lessons learned, best practices, innovative solutions, societal debates, etc.
We run at least one webinar per month, typically on the first or second Tuesday at 12:00 CEST, like this one.
The next one, already open for registration. will be in two weeks and will present challenges and opportunities related to the adoption of Big Data driven solutions in the manufacturing domain. If you are interested on this, please go to the URL listed below, or Google BDVA webinars, and register to it.
In this URL you will find more information about past and future webinar, as well as all the recordings and slides.
Some housekeeping before jumping into the webinar:
Please, write questions in the chat. At the end of the presentation the speaker will answer your questions.
I’m going to ask you a couple of questions to check the main interest of the audience as feedback to our speakers, and a brief survey of two questions at the end to get your feedback and recommendations.
The first question of the poll is about your profile. Please, let us know if you are more interested in technical aspects around big data or more on the business side of the application of big data to the maritime sector… I give you a few seconds to answer…. It seems…
The second and last question is related to the subject of this particular webinar. Is your organization applying solutions for the maritime sector, providing solutions or just interested in the subject? I give you a few more seconds as well…. Apparently this is the case for X% of the audience
Thanks for answering.
Without further delay, let me introduce today’s webinar and the speakers .
We have the pleasure of having two speakers from the DSS Lab of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Giannis Tsapelas and Spiros Mouzakitis, who will discuss the challenges and lessons learned so far in the BigDataOcean project as well as giving a demo of the platform.
Without further delay, let me hand over to Spiros. I’m giving you presenter’s rights as we speak… and now you should be able to share your screen.
Spiros, the floor is yours.
