This PPT will help to understand how learning happens in brain. How you can adjust your skill acquisition in the right way so that maximum output is obtained.
3. What it means when you say “I
know it”?
1. Our memory is different patterns that is generated in
the brains. It can be short term pattern or long term
pattern. These patterns disappear with time if you don’
t make the pattern again in the brain.
2. There are two things with the pattern. Whether you
have the knowledge to make a pattern and reproduce
it or create a new pattern from the existing patterns
stored in the brain as the need arises. When your
brain can create a new pattern from the existing
pattern, you can say that you are applying the
knowledge that you have learned. These students get
marks in entrance examinations.
4. 3. Each individual have unique brains. May be we all
have unique brains. But we can create patterns in the
brain using which you can complete a task. Or in other
words you can acquire a skill by making some permanent
patterns in your brain.

5. Remember : Acquiring new skills
1. Learning is easy when you connect to what you know
already. So whatever concepts or coding you hear, try to
connect to something that you already know.
2. Practice leads to permanent changes in the fibres of
brain - Helps dendrites to grow thicker and to coat
themselves with a fatty layer. It can even make the
connections double.
3. The type of practice depends on the skill that you want
to acquire. You can never learn swimming by watching
or singing by hearing songs or driving by looking at a
person’s driving. For you to become a coder, you must
code. It is said that a coder must complete at least 500
lines of code /day.
6. 4. When you are acquiring a new skill, don’t try to
remember and reproduce the result. When you
temporarily store in your memory to impress the
interviewer or trainer, you are relying on your working
memory which has a very limited capacity and very short
span of time. So make sure that you are clear with the
skill that you learn.
5. Sleep within 30 Hours of learning a new skill. If you
don’t sleep the pattern will not be stored in the memory.
So taking 7 to 8 hours sleep is important when you are
acquiring a new skill.
