Head of Santander UK in Bath Spa lecture
24th November 2014-. Steve Pateman, Head of UK Banking at Santander officially opened recently a new university branch on the Bath Spa University campus. With this new branch Santander has now a total of 52 university branches in the UK.
Accompanying Steve Pateman was Vice-Chancellor Professor Christina Slade cutting the ribbon and University Relationship Branch Manager Ivan Pritchard.
The University has also recently launched the Smart Card with cards issued to 2,538 1st year undergraduate and 797 postgraduate students. Undergraduate students were able to pre-register for a financial student ID card prior to arrival on campus via the online service. Bath Spa is the third UK university using the Santander SmartCard after Roehampton and Salford.
Agreement with the university
The Head of UK Banking at Santander also gave a lecture to students and staff of the university entitled: “Our progress to economic recovery, the role of enterprise and the banks and the challenges that still lie ahead”. Around 200 Business & Management students followed a detailed and technical lecture which was followed by a Q & A session.
Pateman took the opportunity to meet with the Vice-Chancellor Professor Christina Slade and discuss the progress of the partnership between both institutions established with the signing of the agreement last September. The university is also receiving funding for part-funded internship opportunities with local SMEs through their agreement with Santander.
Santander, through its Santander Universities Global Division, has been funding scholarships, travel grants, awards and entrepreneurial activities in the UK for the past 7 years. In total, 76 UK universities have now signed agreements with Santander.
