3. Site Survey
1. Dewatering of both ground and surface water, removal of slurry
generated while excavation and keeping the area free of water with
necessary shoring, struting, required for keeping earth in position
etc.
2. PCC area shall be considered for measurement
3. Working space & provision of slopes if required for execution shall
not be paid separately.
4. Recommendations mentioned in the Geotechnical investigation will
have to be fulfilled.

4. Excavation
1. Excavation in all types of soil including dense soil, disintegrated/
weathered/ soft rock (Poclainable) for Footings of columns,
Retaining walls, Core walls, catch pits, Lift pits, trenches for drains,
etc. by mechanical means including manual excavation for leveling,
dressing the edges, with all leads and lifts including back filling in
layers of 150mm with watering and compaction.
2. Rate to include disposing the excess earth and spreading in layers to
the required levels within the site wherever specified and carting
away out side the site to the designated areas identified by the local
authorities.

5. Material Specification
1. M–Sand is the only alternative to river sand. Higher concrete strength
compared to river sand used for concreting.
2. Though M Sand uses natural coarse aggregates to form, it causes less damage
to the environment as compared to river sand.Better quality control since
manufactured in a controlled environment.
3. River sand has a clean and smooth type of grain with sizes between 0.06 mm -
2 mm
4. M sand for Concreting- Sieve size is 150 microns- 4.75mm and it adheres to IS
code 383:1970
5. M sand for Block work - Sieve size is 150 microns- 3.55mm and it adheres to IS
code 2116:1980
6. M sand for Plastering with prior approval - Sieve size is 150 microns- 2.36mm
and it adheres to IS code 1542:1992

6. Material Specification
• Filter Sand or Silica Sand
1. Filter sand, or silica sand, is specially graded to trap very small
particles. This is the type of sand your filter needs in order to
properly clean your above ground pool. It is usually sold in 50lb
bags and can be found in any pool store.
2. Shouldn’t be used for RCC.
3. The ideal sand media for intermittent sand filters is a coarse sand
with an effective size between 0.3 mm and 0.5 mm. The media sand
grains should be relatively uniform in size having a low Uc value
(less than 4.0) to promote movement of water and prevent
clogging.

7. Concrete Specifications
1. Providing and laying P.C.C. 1:3:6 of specified thick wherever
specified using river sand, 20mm and downsize metal including
base reperation, Compaction, levelling, all leads and lifts, curing and
shuttering if necessary etc.
2. Reinforced Cement Concrete of specified grade at all levels and
heights specified below using ordinary Portland cement of grade 53
from approved manufacturer, river sand, 20mm and down size
coarse aggregates, necessary admixtures approved by Consultants
3. RCC Grade M20 ( 1:1.5:3) (C:S:A) /M25 (1:1:2)

8. Concrete Specifications
• Before Casting
1. As per drawings the reinforement details as per BBS should be
checked.
2. Shuttering Work should be checked.
• After Casting
1. Cube Testing should be done and after achieving the desired
strength deshuttering should be done.
2. Curing should be done for minimum 7 days after casting.
3. Electrical Conduits should be checked if they are placed properly.

9. Concrete Specifications
• Checklist
1. Slab Thickness should be checked before casting.
2. Supporting of the slab should be checked before Casting.
3. As per drawing all the details related to PEM should be checked.
4. Reinforcement Details should be checked.

10. Waterproofing Specification
1. Waterproofing Membrane should be placed wherever required.
2. After Excavation there should be a waterproofing layer which
should be done as per specified by waterproofing expert.
3. As per the site condition waterproofing work can be required on
different elements such as retaining wall, plinthbeam,balcony,toilets
and even between joints of RCC member waterproofing chemicals
should be used as per suggested by waterproofing expert.

11. Electrical Specifications
1. Lab conduits for house wiring should be done in 2 mm thick 25 mm
size FR PVC conduits.
2. Preferably Slab conduits shall be laid in between top and bottom
reinforcement.
3. Please ensure concrete thickness i.e. cover to PVC Conduits incase
of singly reinforced slabs.
4. Make sure that as per drawings the electrical conduits are placed
and after concreting they aren’t broken.

12. Masonry Specifications
• Providing and Constructing granite Side Stone Masonry in foundation
and plinth in CM 1:6 in horizontal courses not less than 200mm high,
The stones are to be squared on all joints and bed and faces to be
hammer dressed, complete as per drawings and specifications.
• Providing and Construction Brick Masonry 115mm thick in cement
mortar 1:4, using 2no.s 6mm diameter mild steel bars at every fifth
course embedded in cement mortar 1:4 20 mm thick including
necessary scaffolding, curing etc. complete (inclusive of cost of steel
and fabrication charges)( basic rate RS. 8-00 per no.)

13. Masonry Specifications
1. Concrete bricks are typically formed in molds using hydraulic
pressure while clay bricks are typically extruded through a die.
2. Concrete bricks are cured through a chemical reaction between the
water and cement.
3. Clay bricks are typically cured by a process called vitrification.
4. Although concrete blocks are cheaper than clay bricks, the value
you receive for spending more on bricks will be cheaper in the long
run.

14. Masonry Specifications
1. Red Bricks, made from the natural soil, may lead to the erosion of top
soil over a period of time.
2. AAC blocks uses fly ash and helps in utilising a waste product. The large
size, light-weight, fire and termite resistance of AAC blocks saves energy,
time, construction cost and imparts durability.
3. Red bricks offer a compressive strength of 2.5 to 3.5 N/mm2, while AAC
blocks provide 3 to 4.5 N/mm2 of compressive strength.
4. This clay hollow blocks are an innovation in the construction industry.
5. The weight of this particular hollow blocks is 60% lesser than the cement
block of the same size.
6. By using this hollow blocks you can save Rs 5 / Sq. ft in your construction
in the structural cost.

15. Masonry Specifications

16. Plastering Specification
1. Preparing of Ceiling and other RCC surfaces and Plastering thickness
is 12mm in Cement Mortar 1:4, applied in one coat including
finishing smooth with a thin coat of lime rendering etc.
2. Preparing & plastering the Internal surfaces of walls with cement
mortar 1:6 12mm thickness applied in one coat including finishing
smooth with a thin coat of lime rendering etc.
3. External Plastering 20mm thick average in CM 1:5, sponge finished
as directed etc.
4. Rough Plastering 20mm thick in CM 1:5 sponge finished as directed
etc.

17. Plastering Specification
5. Providing and rendering cement plaster 50mm thick with chicken
mesh and MS reinforcement at 200 mm c/c both directions in
cement mortar 1:4, base coat 15mm thick and final coat 10mm
thick finished smooth/ rough as directed, to required pattern etc.

18. Plastering Specification
• Before Plastering
1. Surface Cleaning
2. No Biomaterial
3. Framework of Doors, Windows should be fixed.
4. Wash the surface with water and rough the surface wherever
necessary.

19. Plastering Specification
• During Plastering
1. Material of fine aggregate should be as per specifications.
2. Spirit Level should be used instead of Water Level.
3. Spirit Level gives accurate dimensions and errors can be minimized
with the help of spirit level.
4. Wherever there are expansion joints or there are composite
material intersection use a mesh for bonding.
