Inclusive Action Research
Inclusive / participatory research approach
includes representatives of those who are
the “Subjects” of the research.
This approach is geared to study the issues
most relevant and important to the group.
Based on finding of the research one
outcome is action (Social, Policy, etc.)
People with disabilities participate in establishing the
research topic and research question (s).
People with disabilities participate in the literature review.
People with disabilities participate in designing the
research methods?
People with disabilities participate in designing the
instruments to assure relevance, accessibility, and
usability.
People with disabilities participate in selecting and
recruiting study participants (sample).
How Inclusive is the research?

People with disabilities participate in designing the
institutional review application (ethics review), especially as it
relates to informed consent.
People with disabilities participate in data collection.
People with disabilities participate in data analysis.
People with disabilities participate in writing the research
results and conclusions.
People with disabilities participate in research dissemination,
including publication, presentations, brochures, papers in
easy language to ensure accessibility and ease of
understanding.
People with disabilities participate in ensuring that research
findings are sustainable and are used for social justice
changes.

20 work meetings, about 3 hours each,
(May 2012-may 2015),
all graduates of BIS “Inclusive University”.

(perception) & Quality of life of
people with complex learning
disabilities, adjustment and function

i.e. How satisfied are you from your life generally
How satisfied are you from thing you achieved in life
3. Self Esteem Questionnaire
i.e. I feel that I am worth less than others
I don't feel there is much I can be proud of
i.e. I can not stand that someone is angry at me
Very rarely I think about experiences or feelings of others

i.e. Many times I am not sure of what my opinions are

Conclusion
 Relationship is an area where emphasis must take
place, its complexity, significance in self esteem and
quality of life , with relations to independence and
dependence, etc.
 The correlation of independent thinking and
initiative, implication for early intervention
approach.
 The correlation of self-esteem and QOL, and the fact
that those in relationships rate a higher self esteem.
Recommendations
Inclusive research is a MUST when conducting
research on lives of people, critical in
formulating the relevant questions and in
selecting the measures.
In the future a measure of efficacy and self-
efficacy should be included.

  • 5. Inclusive Action Research Inclusive / participatory research approach includes representatives of those who are the “Subjects” of the research. This approach is geared to study the issues most relevant and important to the group. Based on finding of the research one outcome is action (Social, Policy, etc.)
  • 6. People with disabilities participate in establishing the research topic and research question (s). People with disabilities participate in the literature review. People with disabilities participate in designing the research methods? People with disabilities participate in designing the instruments to assure relevance, accessibility, and usability. Conclusion  Relationship is an area where emphasis must take place, its complexity, significance in self esteem and quality of life , with relations to independence and dependence, etc.  The correlation of independent thinking and initiative, implication for early intervention approach.  The correlation of self-esteem and QOL, and the fact that those in relationships rate a higher self esteem.
  • 19. Recommendations Inclusive research is a MUST when conducting research on lives of people, critical in formulating the relevant questions and in selecting the measures. In the future a measure of efficacy and self- efficacy should be included.

  1. הסולם של עצמאות ביחסים הוא סולם מורכב. יש בו פריטים המתייחסים לקשר עם האחר וההשפעה של הקשר עם האחר עלי ויש פריטים המתייחסים לצורך באחר. עבור אוכלוסייה זו פריטים של צורך באחר קיבלו ציונים גבוהים מאלה של ההשפעה של הקשר עם האחר עלי. כך לדוגמא הממוצע בפריט- לעיתים קרובות אני זקוק לחום ואהבה קיבל ציון ממוצע של 3.5 (סולם 1- לא מסכים כלל, 4= מסכים מאוד) והפריט לעיתים רחוקות אני חושב על חוויות ורגשות של אחרים שקיבל ציון ממוצע של 2.9 (4= מסכים מאוד בהשוואה במדגם של אנשים ללא לקות למידה הפריט אני זקוק לחום ואהבה קיבל ממוצע של 2.8 בלבד ולעומתו לעיתים רחוקות אני חושב על חוויות ורגשות של אחרים קיבל ממוצע של .2.4
  2. הצורך בהכנסת המשתנה מסוגלות עצמית נובע מהקשר האפשרי בין אוטונמיה בחשיבה וביוזמה ובין תחושת מסוגלות
