How has digital effected the film industry?

Main area of activity
My product will be a documentary video which I will upload to YouTube for everyone to
see. This is an easy way for me to publicly show my work and reaches out to the whole
world.
Target Audience
As my target audience was 16-24-year olds I have managed to refine this in a few ways.
Firstly, I used myself as primary audience. As I come under this age category, I am able
to use myself to adjust the product. For example, I know what kind of things interest this
age group and I will make something that I am interested in. social media is a big part of
this age groups lives which is why I have decided to make my product about that as it will
interest the audience more.
Rationale:
Throughout my three years of doing media production I have done many projects and acquired
that will help me with this product. Firstly, in audio I have made a small podcast and a music video
where is needed to edit sounds. This will help this product so that I can edit the audio to sound
better and to give it some character. This will help to make it sound professional instead of
sounding amateur. I have also learnt skills on using body mics which will allow me to get clearer
audio from people I interview.
I have also acquired skill’s on filming and editing including camera techniques and how to use the
camera professionally. This will allow me to capture the visuals in a way that will interest the
audience more. It will also allow me to edit it and make visuals on photoshop that the target
audience would enjoy.
Project Concept:
My product is going to be a video documentary for 16-24-year-old based on social media. The idea
for this is that I am going to focus on how much time people spend on their devices, mainly on
social media. This to find out how much of their day is spent endlessly scrolling through posts. For
this I will start by telling the audience the average time each age group normally spends a day on
social media and what each group most used app is. This will allow me to the ask the people I am
interviewing what they think their most used social media app is and how much time they think
they spend on it. After finding out what they think I will then tell them what the average for their age
is and then tell them how much time they spend and what their most used app was. This can be a
shocking thing for them and maybe open their eyes for how much they spend on their phones. It
will also make both the people interviewed and the audience a realisation that we are all sucked
into social media and makes people think they could spend their time better and more
productively.
For my project I will needed to research into the different age groupings and how much time each
group spends on social media. For this I might find 3 or 4 bit of data and then find the average
from this. I will do the same for the most used social media.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed?
When evaluating my work, I will go back and review each section of my work to see how I did. For
example, I will look back at my research and see which bits helped me in the final product, which
bits didn’t and what I wish that I researched. This will allow me to see what I could do better for the
next time I do a project like this. I will also reflect on the final product by comparing it to other real
products and see what both products have in common and how they are different.
