The document considers several potential institutions for publishing a new classical music magazine aimed at younger audiences. It analyzes Rhinegold Publishing, which already publishes classical magazines for older audiences and has a similar niche focus. It also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of Seymour Distribution, Bauer Media, Team Rock Ltd, and the BBC as potential publishers. The document ultimately seems to favor Bauer Media as it attracts the target age range, uses similar conventions, and does not already have a classical music magazine.
1. Institutions
The most effective institutions for my classical magazine:
● Seymour Distribution
● Team Rock Ltd Bauer
● Rhinegold Publishing
2. Rhinegold
leading UK publisher for the classical
music,education and performing arts industries
● They already produce 7 well known classical
music magazines which are used to
entertain,inform and educate.
● They’re target is very niche like mine but much
older like 30+. They also give the typical image of
high class with high quality pages.
3. Rhinegold
leading UK publisher for the classical

4. Rhinegold
leading UK publisher for the classical
music,education and performing arts industries
● I believe this would be a effective institution as they already
attract the classical enthusiasts, the people who want to learn
about the genre. They would opening the gap in there market
which is a magazine aimed at a younger audience but would it
just attract the higher class status. Whereas I want to attract
all classes but also people who believe classical is just for
'boring' and 'smart' people. .
5. Rhinegold
leading UK publisher for the classical
music,education and performing arts industries
● My magazine offers musical
instuments techiques, informing
what classical is and how
exciting it can be for students
who are interested in the genre.
Advertising a new artist which is
bringing a upbeat type of
classical would attract the
younger audience. I also use
techniques that they already
use:
● Features we both
could use:
● Downloadable lessons
● Free apps
● Social network links
● Music and performing arts contact directories
As my audience is young, they would
be intrigued and be able to use social
media links and apps as that is
something they're very familiar with.
6. Seymour
● Seymour would be an effective way to sell my magazine once
the magazine was more recognisable to a larger audience. As
this institution is the largest distribution internationally. When the
artists are recognised worldwide the competitions and world
tours would be useful for all readers.
● They are willing to publish creative ideas. However they are
owned by Bauer Media.
7. Bauer
● I believe Bauer media would be one of the most
effective ways to publish my magazine
● They attract the same age range.
● They use similar codes and conventions
● They don’t have a classical music magazine
● Large class range
● Similar prices
8. Bauer-Inside Panel
● Bauer Media reaches over 22 million UK adults
every week.
● The inside panel reaches out to 16+ which is
similar to our audience. However I would prefer
a nicher market to make my audience more
specific and easier to direct.
9. Team Rock Ltd
● My audience would find this useful
as it gives them the opportunity to
use social media,apps and
download the magazine.
● Team rock is based on rock
but I believe they could
expand there website to all
different genres including
classical. As they current
magazines have been
stopped but the website is
still running, it would create
large masses of people to
use there website and find
these new genres.
10. BBC
● Even though BBC'S
magazines are
educational they
already offer a
successful classical
magazine. So I
wouldn’t want to
compete with it.
