What is Employee health and safety?
Health:-
Health as defined by world health organization (WHO) it is a” state of complete physical,
mental, and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
Health is a dynamic condition resulting from a body’s constant adjustment and adaptation
in response to stresses and changes in the environment for maintaining an inner
equilibrium called homeostatic.
We can examine employee health from following angles –

2) Mental Health
Safety:-
Safety refers to the absence of accidents. Stated differently, safety refers to the protection
of workers from the danger of accidents.
Relative freedom from danger, Risk, or threat of harm, injury, or loss to personnel and
property, whether caused deliberately or by accident.
Needs of Employee Health and Safety:-
Cost saving- If the safety measures are not applied than the accident may result into
following cost –
1) Direct Cost –
It may be in the form of compensation payable to the dependent of victim if the
accident is fatal, and medical expenses incurred in treating the patient if the
accident is non-fatal.
2) Indirect Cost-
It includes loss on account of down time of operators, slowed up production rate of
other workers, materials spoiled and labor for cleaning, and damage to equipment.
5 | P a g e
It includes anything that is done for the comfort and improvement of employees and is
provided over and above the wages. Health & Safety helps in keeping the morale and
motivation of the employees high so as to retain the employees for longer duration. The
welfare measures need not be in monetary terms only but in any kinds. Employee health
includes monitoring of working conditions, creation of industrial harmony through
infrastructure for health, industrial relations and insurance against disease, accident and

CONCLUSION
It has been a scintillating experience for me to be associated with Legrand for the
last couple of month. That too getting a firsthand knowledge of how things work out in
the plans of the unparalleled leader in the manufacturing sector in a country was
something beyond my expectation. Safety is good for organization.
A safe & Health work place is one of the key of business success. By establishing
good health and safety practices in the work place a business likely to have more
motivated & productive, employee lower absenteeism rate, fever business disruption and
reputation in the cost of sick pay and temporary replacement staff. To run successful &
visual, international standard business, companies need to manage the quality of their
product or services. So productive business company need to manage health & safety of
people where they work. As per government regulation compulsorily health & safety
measure are implemented by the origination for employees & workers on payroll, but
through the study of current system the resultant intenseness to bring out some innovation
idea for ease of managing the safety, security & health measure, that are to be
implemented in the industries while going for Digital India and Make in India phase of
economic development.
 Human Resource plays an important role in any organization. Employee Health &
safety facilities are concern to this department. If the employee happy with the
facility the only productivity of that organization can be increased.
 Based on the study of employee safety & health facilities in Legrand. It is clear
that company is very keen in the promoting but they should be increased that.
 Maintain Employee Health and Safety is responsibility of organization as well as
employer & employee also.

  • 1. 1 | P a g e EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
  • 2. 2 | P a g e EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:- Employee safety and Health in India has a rich history and has come a long way in the last two decades. A liberalization of the economy and its movement towards globalization has brought in new challenges for Indian business in terms of business strategies, technology, quality concern, cost effectiveness, management system and so on. All these, in term have brought new challenges for the human resources functions. The organization should ensure the employee should have good career, receive reward, training, feedback, job rotation and other such development opportunities. So it is very necessary to train people in new skill, new technology, and new method and at the same time make them to adopt the changes so that the organization grows. In my project I have tried study Employee safety and Health in Legrand Where it is effective and where some changes will make it more effective and efficient that will help the organization, which is in growth phase. Based on that information I have presented this small project .My work is supplemented with the responses that I got from the employees While conducting the survey in formal discussion, web sites and other print material It is divided in number of section the over view of the company: basic information about Employee safety and Health meaning need, benefits, methodology and data analysis, suggestion and conclusion. The questionnaire used for survey is also attached to the report at the end of this report. My tenure as vocational trainee at Legrand has helped me in understanding the role of HR professional in an organization and to understand the phenomenon of training for development, which will be of great benefit to me when I join the corporate world as an HR professional. People working in this organization have been very helpful and friendly. They were always ready to help me in my project. I was present this project in university level Avishkar 2015 through poster.
  • 3. 3 | P a g e INTRODUCTION
  • 4. 4 | P a g e INTRODUCTION What is Employee health and safety? Health:- Health as defined by world health organization (WHO) it is a” state of complete physical, mental, and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” Health is a dynamic condition resulting from a body’s constant adjustment and adaptation in response to stresses and changes in the environment for maintaining an inner equilibrium called homeostatic. Stated differently, safety refers to the protection of workers from the danger of accidents. Relative freedom from danger, Risk, or threat of harm, injury, or loss to personnel and property, whether caused deliberately or by accident. Needs of Employee Health and Safety:- Cost saving- If the safety measures are not applied than the accident may result into following cost – 1) Direct Cost – It may be in the form of compensation payable to the dependent of victim if the accident is fatal, and medical expenses incurred in treating the patient if the accident is non-fatal. 2) Indirect Cost- It includes loss on account of down time of operators, slowed up production rate of other workers, materials spoiled and labor for cleaning, and damage to equipment.
