5 tips to make your iPad more productive
1. 5 tips to make your
iPad more productive
Matthew Carr, Training Director
Blindability
2. All of these tips have been taken
from an iPad running the latest
version of the Apple Operating
System (iOS7)
3. Tip 1: Take a Screenshot!
If you want to save images from within apps, of a
piece of work you have done, a brilliant score in your
favourite game, you can take a screenshot of the
current view of your iPad.!
!
To do this, press the Home button (bottom centre) and
Sleep/Wake button (top right) at the same time. !
!
The screen flashes and a camera shutter sound will
play. !
!
Your images will be saved to the camera roll album in
the Photos App.
4. Tip 2: Make some folders
You can group apps together in folders to make them
easier to find. You can group them however you like.!
!
To make a folder, simply press and hold one app that
you want to move until it starts to shake. Then drag
the app on top of another to create the folder.!
!
You can name the folder so you know what apps are
in it.!
!
Tap outside the folder to get back to your other apps
so you can drag more into the folder you have created
or to make another. You can store as many apps as
you want in each folder.!
!
Folders can be moved around in the same way as an
app can and even placed in the dock for access on
every app page.!
5. Tip 3: Dock two more apps
The Dock (at the bottom of each screen) is a great
place to store your most-used apps.!
!
Did you know you can have up six?!
!
To move apps into the Dock, simply press and hold the
app or folder ! your want to move until it starts shaking,
then drag it into the position you want.!
!
You can simply drag icons off the dock if you want to
make space for different ones.!
6. Tip 4:Shake to undo or redo
If you make a mistake while typing, you can shake the
iPad and an Undo Typing message will appear. !
!
If you undo something in error, you can shake the iPad
again and a Redo Typing option will pop up.!
!
If you’re not too keen on shaking your iPad the undo
option can also be found by pressing the .?123 key on
the keyboard and a redo button by pressing the #+=
key.!
7. Tip 5: Dictation
If you have an iPad 3 or later, or an iPad mini you can
use the dictation tool to type your messages out for
you.!
!
The dictation tool can be found on the keyboard to the
left side of the space bar. The key has a picture of a
microphone on it.!
!
To start dictating simply press the microphone key, you
will hear a “ding” sound which indicates the dictation
tool is working. Once you have finished, just press
“done”!
!
(if the key isn’t visible enable Siri from the Settings
app, then general.!
!
You can even include punctuation, just speak it. For
example, to get “The iPad is a great tool, I just can’t
get enough of it!” you would say “The iPad is a great
tool comma I just can’t get enough of it exclamation
mark”!
!
If you are dictating a longer document you can even
add paragraphs by saying “new paragraph.”!
!
In order for Diuctation to work, you will need Siri
turned on and a good internet or data connection.!
