CROSS-CURRICULAR TEACHING ON CULTURAL AND NATURAL HERITAGE TOPICS 2013-2015, school Marjan, Split, Croatia

1. FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE, SCHOOL TIME IS THE BEST TIME

2. In this project we wanted the generation to which computers are an integral part of learning to learn
more about the time when pupils wrote on school plates, learned letters from large spelling books
placed on the wall and had to do a large number of household chores beside learning.

3. Project implementation started by collecting old school photos, clothing and other items. The
pupils searched their homes and asked their parents and grandparents for help.

4. They brought to school all the old items that they could find like textbooks, notebooks,
bags, school uniforms etc.

6. During different activities and workshops, pupils have dealt with the topic in a cross-curricular
way, applying a very modern approach and using interactive methods.

7. They worked in groups making posters and presenting to each other what they have explored,
discovered and learned.

9. Pupils have learned a lot about school, school life as it once
was and the changes that have occurred over time.

11. They also learned what the classrooms, the clothes and the bags looked like.

14. The pupils have expressed their experience of the best time in life through words and pictures.

15. A workshop Who loves you more than me.

16. Children made Memory Books like the old ones they have
found which were filled with pledges of love and friendship.

21. The parents were glad to join in and they made two beautiful posters „Education in the past” and
„The school life as it once was”

24. Our guests were pupils’ grandparents who were telling funny, interesting and
instructive stories interwoven with wisdom.

26. Exhibition "The Embrace of tradition and friendship"

28. The exhibition was divided into several interconnected but independent
units.

29. Each poster told a part of this interesting story.

30. A story of tradition, school, heritage and friendship is told through
original items and interactive content.

31. The visitors were delighted with the exhibition which can
be seen from the Book of impressions and appearances
in the media.

32. Inspired by the famous saying
which brings us back to the
carefree days of our
childhood and awakens
memories, we have raised the
awareness and love for the
school and pedagogical
heritage, reviving forgotten
everyday school life of our
ancestors.

33. The conclusion
In the end, we can say that this story greatly enriched our everyday school life.
The story of the school time as the best time in everyone’s life.
