2. SIMPLE PRESENT
We use the simple present:
For things that are generally true:
- The earth goes around the sun.
To describe habits:
- He drinks coffee at breakfast.
To describe routines:
- I go to the gym every day.
Note:
Habit ≠ Routine
Habit = An action we do with little or no conscious thought.
Routine = An action we do with high degree of intention and effort.
3. SIMPLE PRESENT: HE, SHE, IT.
AFFIRMATIVE
He/ she/ it + verb>s =) Add –s to
the verb. Examples:
- He works in Cali.
- Our cat likes tuna.
- She studies in Palmira.
- The dog has a big bed.
- He fixes cars.
- The cat plays with its toys.
NEGATIVE
We use doesn’t ( does not) and the verb
in indefinite form. Examples:
- He doesn’t work in Tulua.
- Our cat doesn’t like milk.
- She doesn’t study in Pradera.
- The dog doesn’t have a nice collar.
- He doesn’t fix motorbikes.
- The cat doesn’t play with rats.
