Introduction:
Newspaper thrown up high into the air, tracked wide shot in slow motion.
Voice Over:
“Smiling in the public eye, but in my lonely room I cry, the tears of a clown, when
there's no one around.” – Smokey Robinson music played softly in the background.
Main Body:
Lyrics:
All alone in a crowded room
He tries to force a smile
The smile it beamed or so it seemed
But never reached the eyes,disguise
Masquerading as the funny man do they despise
The false smile maketh of the man
Glass empty or half full
Try to make some sense or sorrows drown
All looks well on the outside
Underneath the solemn truth
There's something that inside has died
Tomorrow comes tomorrow goes
But the cloud remains the same
Wonder why he's feeling down
Tears of a clown
Maybe it's all just for the best
Lay his weary head to rest
Was forever feeling drowned

Who motivates the motivator
Facade it has to go
He knows it sooner or later
Smile for cameras all ok

Or so the story goes
Life full of fun where did it go
We saw the sadness in his eyes

Clown is alone in his dressing
room as his makeup begins to
fade.
Pull focus from the clown onto
the clock which reads ‘Two
Minutes to Midnight’ a cross
reference to Iron Maidens past
hit of the same title.
Jump Shots to a close up of a
clock ticking normally at the
beginning but becoming more
frantic as the song develops
and the video progresses.
Track the clown making his
way through a herd of
photographers. Multiple
flashes.
Cut back to performer.
Cut shots to performer singing
the chorus with jump cuts to
close up of clown in the rain.
Cut back to performer.
Cut to soaking wet clown with
run make up jumping onto a
bed (potential slow mo).
Fragmented shots of noose set
up.

performer.
Clown steps onto chair.
Cut back to falling papers as
song fades out.
Jump cuts back to clown
rocking the chair.
Cut back to a close up of the
front page of the newspaper
reading ‘Robin Williams
Dead’.
Then a final chilling cut to the
chair being kicked away and
the feet dangling, no fade just
a cut to a black screen. End.
