3. The Mavericks
Who we are / What we’ve accomplished
The Mavericks Water Polo Club, now in its 18th year, has a
tremendous track record of growth and in-pool success.
In the last 3 years alone, we have placed more than
TWENTY athletes on Canadian National teams/tour teams.
In 2010/11, the club won NINE provincial and national
championship medals.
We are one of a very few teams in Canada who employ a
full-time head coach. We have a coaching staff of 7, plus
10 athlete/coaches who work with our 12 and under
groups.
We currently have about 100 members including 40 in our
learn-to-swim/play program.

4. Why we’re looking
for Sponsors.
The Mavericks is a not-for-profit organization facing
challenges that many amateur sport clubs must deal with.
We wrestle with:
Rising rates for pool time (+14% over 2 years)
Our main fundraiser (Bingo) is diminishing rapidly
(down 50%
since non smoking)
We have exhausted any grant opportunities available
to us
But, we are not looking for sponsors simply to help us
balance
our books…

7. Our Goal...
1. Growth
Our 3-5 year plan is to create a self-sustaining program that
is supported by a network of LEARN TO SWIM & PLAY
programs that we call BASECamp. These age 12 & under
programs will feed the future competitive growth in our club
while introducing 150 – 200 families (or more) per session (3
sessions per year) to our great sport.
2. Performance
Water polo is a great sport for health, development and
recreation for all of our young athletes. But we are also a
(very!) competitive organization and look at indicators like
our championship successes and the number of athletes we
place on National Teams to determine where we stand in the
country. And in those measures, we are aiming for number 1!

8. Why we need...
Why we need sponsorship $$ to compete.
In many other parts of the country, various layers
of government support for amateur sport is higher
on the agenda. In Quebec, clubs don’t pay for pool
time (Pool time nears 50% of our budget). In
Calgary some casino revenue is channeled into
amateur sport and one water polo club earns in the
area of $60,000 per year.
Having exhausted government avenues available to
us, we are looking to corporate partners to help us
match up!

9. What are we asking for?
This is new territory for us.
We are looking for major sponsor(s) to help us
achieve some major goals.
We need $$ for:
•for more pool space
•for advertising
•for new equipment (no nets at some pools we
use)
•to aid some families who have heavy
participation costs or financial hardship
•to sustain a coaching model for continued
growth, expansion and excellence
To achieve our goals we are looking to generate
$50,000 in sponsorship revenue.

10. What can we offer?
In recognition of support we can offer:
City, Province and Country-wide Exposure.
Mavericks Competitive teams will play in
(estimated) 55 tournaments and 300+ games this
year. (That’s more than the Leafs and Raptors and
Argos combined!)
We will play in GTA, KW, London, Hamilton, Ottawa,
Montreal, Gatineau, BC (TBD), Calgary…. And that’s
just what we see so far!
We train 7 days a week in pools across the city
(from Riverdale to Mississauga) and plan to expand
from there.

15. Sponsorship: Platinum Package $5,000
The package is designed with a major sponsor in mind and amounts to a
strong presence throughout Mavericks marketing and uniform options.
This level is considered a Club Sponsor.
Mavericks Water Polo is pleased to offer the following components of this
package:
– Your Company name and logo proudly displayed as the Club major sponsor on team T-
shirts, and, as possible, selected other items
– Signage/banner (if provided) displayed at Mavericks hosted tournaments.
– Sampling opportunity at Club functions and membership. (If appropriate for your

The Gold package has been tailored to accommodate businesses desiring
an affiliation and exposure with a successful Canadian Sports Club.

– Signage displayed at all tournaments in the GTA for a period of 12 months.
– Sampling opportunity at Club functions and membership.
