1. Describe the setting of this novel. The novel takes place on an uninhabited island where a group of schoolboys find themselves after a plane crash. The course of the novel occurs during the world war as mentioned by the characters. A scar was created in the island as a result of the plane crash. The main character, Ralph encounters Piggy as they make their way to a lagoon; soon they encounter two more boys and make their way around the island, which is uninhabited as they concluded. The mountain, which is later, discovered is the location of their first fire, which got out of control and left a large portion of the island burned. Towards the end of the book, a new location is discovered and called castle rock. Spill her blood was repeated multiple times to show the boys gradual move from being civilized to becoming savages.
Golding s use of personification enhanced the imagery of his descriptions. Here and there, little breezes crept over the polished waters beneath the haze of heat. When these breezes reached the platform the palm fronds would whisper, so that spots of blurred sunlight slid over their bodies or moved like bright, winged things in the shade is a great example of multiple instances of personification.
