Inc./Weitzman Institute is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council
for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for
Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing
Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
This designation confers simultaneous continuing education
accreditation across nine national accrediting bodies.
This series is intended for physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses,
physician assistants, psychologists, clinical social workers, dentists,

• Vaccine Dry Ice
– Replenish 10-16 mm of dry ice pellets within 24 hours of receipt of the
vaccine
– Replenish every 5 days thereafter (up to 2 times)

– Between -25°C and -15°C (-13°F to 5°F) for up to 2 weeks
– Vials can be returned one time to ultra-cold temperatures
which will suspend the 2 week timeframe

– Between 2⁰C and 8⁰C (36⁰F and 46⁰F) for up to 5 days
– Cannot be refrozen (protect from light)
• Vaccine Room Temp
– Up to 25⁰C (77⁰F) for 2 hours including thaw time.
– Vials must be reconstituted or returned to the refrigerator
within 2 hours (protect from light)

– Invert the vial 10 times (Do NOT shake)
– Using a 21G or narrower needle draw up 1.8mL of 0.9% sodium chloride diluent
into a mixing syringe
– Inject diluent into the vaccine vial and withdraw 1.8mL of air from the vaccine
vial to equalize the pressure
– Again invert the vial 10 times (Do NOT shake)
• Vaccine will be off white in color
• Keep the mixed vaccine between 2°C to 25°C (36°F to 77°F) up to 6 hrs
• 0.3mL dose IM

• Gently swirl the vaccine (Do NOT shake)
• Vaccine will be white to off-white in color (may contain white particles)
• Once the vial has been punctured keep the vaccine between 2°C to 25°C

• 0.5mL dose

• No dilution required
• Gently swirl the vaccine in an upright position for 10 seconds prior to
drawing up the dose (Do NOT shake)
• Vaccine will be colorless to slightly yellow in a clear to very opalescent
suspension
• Once the vial has been punctured
– Keep the vaccine between 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F) for up to 6 hours OR…
– At room temperature (max 25°C/77°F) for up to 2 hours
• 0.5mL dose
