 Gold hits 9-1/2-month low on firm dollar;set for 3rd weekly loss
Spot gold was down 0.8 percent at USD 1,173.56 an ounce by
0231 GMT. Earlier in the session, the metal dropped 1 percent
to mark its lowest since February 8 at USD 1,171.21 per ounce.
 Oil market static in thin trade ahead of OPEC meeting next
week International Brent crude oil futures were trading at USD
48.97 at 0102 GMT, down 3 cents from their last close.
 The Indian rupee touched a low of 68.85 against the US dollar
on Thursday, rekindling fears that it may cross the 70 mark that
it barely missed in August 2013.

Indian banks' loans rose 7.9 percent in the two weeks to Nov.
11 from a year earlier, while deposits rose 11.7 percent, the
Reserve Bank of India's weekly statistical supplement showed
on Friday.
 The RBI is making oil bonds eligible for the liquidity auctions,
adding that there will be no margin requirement on reverse
repo auctions where the central bank has to give securities
against surplus money deposited by banks.
 India's foreign exchange reserves declined by USD 1.542 billion
to USD 365.499 billion in the week to November 18 due to
decrease in foreign currency assets, Reserve Bank said today.

 Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the government wanted the
physical currency to come down and be substituted by digital

accounts of workers, who do not have one till date, in the
organised as well as unorganised sector.
 The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 68.96 points, or 0.36
percent, to 19,152.14. The S&P 500 gained 8.63 points, or 0.39
percent, to 2,213.35 and the Nasdaq Composite added 18.24
points, or 0.34 percent, to 5,398.92.
 The 30-share BSE Sensex surged 456.17 points or 1.76 percent
to 26316.34 and the 50-share NSE Nifty jumped 148.80 points
or 1.87 percent to 8114.30. The broader markets also
participated in the rally as the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices
gained 1.3 percent and 2 percent, respectively
