  • 3. We do a fantastic job! We have an excellent range of skills!! NOBODY KNOWS!!!!!!!!!
  • 4. Well, some people do……. Mainly Students…… Then again….. Approx. 44% of students never visit the Library
  • 7. ….and our institutions operate in the outside world!
  • 8. So… GET OUT OF THE LIBRARY!!!!!
  • 9. Materials come in ‘shelf-ready’
  • 11. The SIZ can deal with them!
  • 12. What are we doing on our butt?
  • 13. Go to the departments! Go to local schools and colleges! Speak at conferences! Make yourself Virtual!
  • 14. We need to make ourselves part of the environment… Not just an afterthought!
  • 15. We need to be seen in our institutions’ academic departments…
  • 16. Volunteer for Committee membership… Volunteer for Open Days… Volunteer for WP activities… Make yourselves the ‘first choice’…
  • 17. We need to be seen in local Schools, Colleges, SMEs
  • 18. We need to be seen Locally and Globally… ResearchGate enables networks of research contacts to be built http://www.researchgate.net
  • 19. We need to be seen Locally and Globally… Linkedin enables networks of business/ professional contacts to be built http://www.linkedin.com/
  • 20. We need to be seen Locally and Globally… Why not write a book review? Builds your profile both nationally, and (hopefully) internationally www.managinginformation.com

  • 22. We need to be the first thing that comes into the mind of all of our current and future users, when they need… INFORMATION
