to limit the power of the kings. It provided a law that no
one was above or could overpower
3. Glorious Revolution
The Glorious Revolution occurred in the British Isles,
where King James the 2nd was overthrown and replaced
with King William of Orange. As a result, the power of
kings are now created by the people.
4. English Bill of Rights
The English Bill of Rights was written in
1689.
The bill set limits on heads of state and
gave people their freedom of speech, the
right to petition.
5. The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment happened in the 18th century.
It was important for reformation of society and for the
advancement of knowledge.
6. Montesquieu
Montesquieu was from France, he is famous for articulation
of the theory of separation of powers.
7. John Locke
From England.
lived till 72.
Natural rights are the rights to live, defend, health, freedom,
possessions. Basically the pursuit of happiness.
8. Thomas Jefferson
From Shadwell, Virginia.
Known for Writing the Declaration of Independence.
He found property to be a creature of society.
