communicate.
9. Immediate Access 24/7
The average adult in the
UK spends nearly 9 hours
a day on media and
communication.
10% say that they access
the internet more than 50
times a day.
Being online all the time,
means blurred lines
between personal and
professional.
@emjohnno
10. Content Overload
There’s so much content
out there – so make it
worthwhile, add value, and
make it human.
@emjohnno
According to research,
the average human
attention span has fallen
from 12 seconds in 2000
to 8 seconds….
16 million text messages,
and 156 million emails!
11. New Forms of Communication
Emojis & Social Media
Young people would rather use social media or talk online to people they do
not know than have a conversation face to face, research has suggested.
While more than 1.5 billion people speak English, 3.2 billion use the Internet, ¾
through smartphones equipped with emojis.
More than 90% of social networking users communicate through emojis
More than 6 billion emojis are exchanged every day.
Oxford Dictionary named “Face with Tears of Joy” emoji Word of the Year 2015.
Social media – wherever you are, whatever platform you are on – don’t be
corporate, be human.
@emjohnno
12. Brands Doing it Well…
Human to human
marketing is about being
able to story tell, and
enable your customers, or
potential customers to
relate to your brand.
@emjohnno
13. The Takeaways…
Human to Human (H2H),
not B2C or B2B…If you
wouldn’t do it in person, don’t
do it online.
@emjohnno
Be as 24/7 as you can be –
reply straightaway, and interact
with people who are connecting
with your brand in real time
Find your brand tone of
voice on your social media,
and stick to it, including a
set of go-to emojis.
14. For Extras…

“If you start your own firm you have to have
personality and hustle to convince people to work
with your company.
All of these require strong interpersonal skills, which
simply isn’t stressed enough.
Business is about relationships and humility.
You have to “play the long game,” which means you have
to invest time, money and emotion, without any
immediate expectation of financial return.”

“I used LinkedIn to identify construction companies that I
wanted to represent and identified their general counsels
and corporate executives and connected with them.
It was not uncommon for me to spend four hours a
day connecting with new people on LinkedIn and
sending them customized notes to go with my
requests. My following quickly grew to 5,000+
connections. I asked them if they were open to lunch or
coffee…”

“Many ignored me but I remained persistent.
In fact, I would regularly message the same person 10
to 15 times.
Before they’d reply, with something like “Thank you, Ken,
for continuing to follow up with your kind invitations.
What’s your schedule like next week?”
I began meeting with these corporate decision makers and
quickly learned that very few of them mind persistence
and if they’re not interested, they’ll tell you.”

“As a result of implementing these strategies, my business
saw record growth and revenue jumped 243%.
I now employ multiple associates and staff.
I have sufficient revenue to spend thousands on internet
marketing, billboards and social media advertising.
Most importantly, I am now representing some of the
largest companies in the state and in the country.
However, none of this came without struggle, patience,
and persistence.”
