• In July 2014, due to a team restructure and my previous experience as a Business Analyst, I requested to be
given the additional responsibility of managing the Business Analysis function, which was approved.

Responsibilities:
Management Responsibilities:
• Line management of a team of 3 Test Analysts and 2 Business Analysts.
• HR responsibilities for the Test and Analysis team including managing absences, managing the capability or
disciplinary procedures where required, managing weekly timesheets, ensuring Health & Safety procedures

the best tools for performance testing and penetration testing as an area the test team are keen to develop in.
• Manage the engagement of the Non Functional test teams to deliver performance and penetration testing in a
timely manner. Assist the performance and penetration test teams in preparation for the non functional testing
by walking them through the application to be tested, and by preparing data where required.

Achievements:
• My first task on joining the team was to create a regression pack for all legacy applications previously built by
the developers. I was also the first Test Analyst to join the Corporate Applications team so had to carefully
build relationships with developers who were initially averse to having testers in their team.
• After expressing an interest in Project Management, I was given the responsibility of managing various pro-
jects from initiation to delivery.
• During my time as a Senior Test Analyst, I was nominated for two of Sky’s Believe in Better awards on two
separate occasions.

Testing Responsibilities:
• Followed the Agile Scrum methodology for majority of our applications, but had to use the Waterfall methodol-
ogy for our legacy applications.
• Contribute to and attend meetings and / or daily stand ups in order to facilitate deliveries in and out of each
iteration.
• Take ownership of delivering accurate estimates of time and resource needed for the test phases including
dependencies, risks and assumptions around the estimate.
• Provide input to or where appropriate, write the Test Approach that defines the test activities and processes to
be followed in order to gain agreement and sign off for the testing phases. This can be for small- to medium-
sized projects and/or work packages.
• Understand business and technical requirements, and how the software development addresses them.
• Prioritise and scope testing phase based on the acceptable level of risk.
• Define, develop, review, maintain, and execute manual tests ensuring traceability of tests to requirements, and
ensuring they offer sufficient coverage and rigor.
• Support or undertake test execution to ensure that all relevant requirements have been met, and understand
the impacts of the test execution results. This could include testing on mobile devices such as Apple and An-
droid devices.

• Liaise with and assist the Performance Test Team whilst the performance testing is being carried out; and to
understand the test results so that these can be communicated back to the Business, Project Manager and /
or Project Team.
• Continued to support Sky’s test communities based in England on the use of HP Quality Center, including set-

Test Center of Excellence (September 2007 – March 2008)
Responsibilities:
On first joining Sky, I was a member of the ‘Test Centre of Excellence’ team who were responsible for delivering
standardised test processes, tools (including HP Quality Center), department metrics for the entire test organisation
(England and Scotland) with 200+ test resources including permanent, professional services, onshore / offshore
vendors and contractors. Defining and standardizing test processes included creation of process templates, com-
municating and training resources on the processes, and leading competency improvement groups (one of these
relating to the requirements review process for test teams). Production of metrics included collating and analyzing
data, and preparation of the metrics packs for Technology management monthly meetings.

Business Analyst / Systems Tester
Achievements:
• Awarded the IT Department Team Award after being with the team for two months. Company Tax Year End
changes were delivered to the business for UAT, with only two medium priority defects recorded.
Responsibilities:
As a Business Analyst I was required to manage workshops with business users to gather requirements and to
determine the best possible solution for their product. I was required to produce detailed functional specifications
(the use of UML, case models, process flows and activity diagrams), and to use these with the help of developers
to provide accurate estimates to the business on development processes.
As a Systems Tester, I was required to plan, prepare and execute test cases and test scripts according to business
priority using the HP Quality Center application, including reporting and managing defects to fix and closure. I as-
sisted in managing the UAT processes; including raising defects and walking the developers through the defects to
ensure they were reproducible.
