5. The brain is comprised of two “networks”. One is associated with
creativity and self-reflection and the other focuses on planning and
problem-solving; when one is on, the other is normally off. A study
conducted at UBC found that daydreaming activated both networks
simultaneously, allowing big-picture plans and problems to be dealt
with.

time are linked in the mind. “When volunteers
watched a star-field animation screensaver spiral
inwards, they daydreamed of past events, and when
it flowed in the opposite direction, they thought
about things that might happen in the future.
