Polynomial
Function
1. Standard form. If the terms of
polynomial function are written in
decreasing powers of x, a polynomial
function is written in standard form.
2. Factored form. Polynomials may
also be written as the product of
irreducible factors. Ex: y= x4+2x3-
x2+14x-56 in factored form y=
(x2+7)(x-2)(x+4)
7. Remember
• Polynomial function is a
polynomial equation that
deals with two variables.
• The values of x in the
polynomial functions are
known as the x-intercepts
because these are the
values of x when y=0.
