Adjust Everywhere ! – Shri Dada
Bhagavan.
 There must be principles in the life of an individual, however
adjustment should be done in tune with the circumstances.
The art of adjusting to every situation can lead a person in the
direction of liberation - this is such a wonderful weapon!
 People who are not able to adjust, are considered eccentric in
public opinion. It is not appropriate to be stubborn in day to day
life and practical matters.
The one who adjusts everywhere is the wise person.
3
Inconvenience in convenience
A person bought a sofaset five years back, now he feels it is looking old. In this way he
created inconvenience even in the facility. He bought the new sofa-set on credit. He felt
very sad when it got spoilt. In this way, one creates unhappiness while seeking happiness
in life.
 We are already surrounded by comforts and conveniences, still we strive to get more and
more comforts and conveniences, this itself results in inconvenience.
 'Find happiness even in the midst of inconvenience.' Happiness is inherent even in
inferior circumstances but you do not have the skill to find it. Now-a-days people are
feeling uneasiness even while sitting in an Easy Chair.
 This lack of understanding invite sorrows. This trap is due to wrong beliefs and illusions.
If wrong concepts are removed, liberation is possible.
4
Adjusting in social dealings
 One can adjust with soft and gentle person but to adjust
with crooked, hard and stern person is really an
achievement.
 Should we be crooked by leaving our simplicity and
straightforwardness while dealing with crooked ?
 Dadaji explains that Straightforwardness is the fruit of
meritorious earnings of many births. The crooked are out to
lure us to lose our spiritual wealth. If we too become
crooked we will lose our spiritual earnings.
5
Please settle and march ahead.
 If someone quarrels with us we have to pity him thinking
‘ O God, how much excited and restless he is that he can’t
help quarelling.’All those who get excited and restless are
weak.
 Might be that his wife quarrels with him and so do his
children. At office his boss scolds him. The poor fellow is
pushed and pummeled in the overcrowded train. There is
no respite for him anywhere. There is no point in picking
up quarrel with such people and lose our peace of mind.
Adjusting with anyone who comes to ‘disadjust’, that is
adjustment indeed.
6
Adjustment amidst diverse viewpoints
 The world is constantly in a state of flux. But people rigidly
adhere to their old times. Elders should act according to the spirit of
the prevailing times otherwise their life will be very miserable.
They must adjust to the circumstances around.
 Let us not call anyone wrong, for one is certainly correct from his
own viewpoint.
 If a certain thing does not suit you, don’t do it but avoid making
fuss criticizing and blaming young generation. “Adjust according to
the Times” if your son comes with a cap on his head don’t get
irritated.
7
Circumstances
• Circumstances go on changing. Circumstances have no
feelings but we have. They will not adjust to you, you
will have to adjust yourself. It’s in our hands to make the
circumstances favourable to us by adjusting.
• While climbing a staircase you gasp for breath. But then
why do you still continue climbing? Because you are sure
that you will go up.
• When it happens that you get cozy bed, sleep on it
comfortably, but when you don’t get any comfort and
have to sleep on the ground, enjoy that moment too.

Your Spouse is Your Counter Balance
- Dada Bhagawan
 Husband wife relation : is a complimenting system
of Nature bringing two dissimilar individuals.
 Husband Spendthrift, Wife fragile and vice versa
 Wife timid, Husband fearless and vice versa
 In most of qualities there is a fine balance so that
the family- life will be peacefully. If both husband
and wife be similar the ship will sink down. Hence
accept and adjust.
 Treat wife as a friend. No bossing or monitoring
the family. She is your friend and you are hers.
Adjusting at Home
A man: Dada! I don't like my wife.
Dadaji: Why don't you like your wife?
Man: She is disabled, her leg limps a bit.
Dadashri: Does your wife like you?
Person: She likes me, Dadashri. I am handsome, educated, earn money and have no
physical defects. That means she has no reason not to dislike me.
Dadashri: This is your mistake. You have got such wife because of your past
misdeeds, while your wife has got you as her husband because of her past good
deeds. You reap what you sow, then why blame others? Look, this is your mistake,
don't repeat any such mistake now.
This made him understand and his sorrow was no more.
10
Adjusting at Home – The mistake
Adjustment to avoid clash
Domestic Example
 Suppose in lunch you find the curry is salty. If you tell
the lady so, her ego will be hurt. So tell her if you have
soft way to tell. But if you don’t know how to tell
sweetly, then use some other technique to make curry
eatable for you.
 Dadashri : If I am told to have lunch at 11.00 am. I
ask ‘Will it do if I take lunch little later?’ If the reply is
“No, have lunch now so that I’ll be free”. Then I would
at once sit for the lunch. I would readily adjust myself.
11
Home - A Garden
In Sat-yug, Dwapar and Treta-yug, homes were
only fields. Then, in each field, there was only
one type of flowers plants grown– be they rose
or jasmine or mogra, daises or daffodils. Only
one type of flowers in one field–family !
But in this era of Kali-yug, each home is not a
field but a garden–yes, a garden with a variety
of flowers. Each member is a different type of
flower !
12
Adjusting at Home
Home - A Garden
 Now suppose you are rose, you expect all to be roses. You are
‘pink’ and you ask the other flower, “Why are you white? You too
must be pink like me.” This is the way you go on complaining.
 First learn the art of admiring and appreciating the ‘flowers’. You
should know the type and natural tendency of each ‘flower’. And
the ‘sapling or plants’ should be watched till they bear flowers.
 From flowers, ascertain which ones are what, whether they are
thorny or thorn-less. But never equate or compare one with the
other. Rather, treat each flower-plant as per its type and tendency.
13
Adjustment with servants
If the cups are broken by the servant, the master will undergo mental torment, he abuses
and scolds “ Are your hands broken? Are you blind?”
Nobody intentionally breaks anything in the world.
Sometimes all the family members blow their bugles at the servant together.
Just imagine what would be the condition of the poor fellow. The servant will nurse
enmity in his heart thinking “ I am poor so my master insults me in this way”
In this business the cups were lost, that is loss number one. Second loss is grief and
agony. And the third loss is you bound enmity with the servant.
Dada Bhagwan has said - Just Stop at the first loss without incurring further losses.
 NEVER BIND ENMITY.
14
Self Enlightening Dictums of Dada Bhagwan
131. If you want to realise ultimate freedom, then ‘adjust everywhere’.
148. If you do not learn anything in worldly life, it’s OK; but always learn to
adjust. One must adjust even when the other may misadjust and one will
definitely cross the worldly ocean for sure.
1174. Absence of insistence makes one flexible, hence acceptable.
1269. Where you cannot adjust, requires strengthening yourself to adjust there.
You are already strong everywhere else.
1460. All worldly dealings are relative and ‘all these relatives are temporary
adjustments.’This understanding is very helpful in the path to liberation.
15
Self Enlightening Dictums of Dada Bhagwan
 1615. Whatever is outside in the world is within man too. All limitations
outside are within man. Universe is outside as well as inside. When
there is adjustment outside that follows spontaneous adjustments
within; and then everything inside quietens!
 2021. Adjusting with one and all is the greatest religion!
 2022. If one does not adjust everywhere, he would lose the liberating path
easily.
 3690. River flows in its orderly way as does the world and one's physical
existence is like a boat. The boat has to adjust, sail and reach the
other shore safely and not the river. But people expect other way
round and wreck their boat!

  • 12. Home - A Garden In Sat-yug, Dwapar and Treta-yug, homes were only fields. Then, in each field, there was only one type of flowers plants grown– be they rose or jasmine or mogra, daises or daffodils. Only one type of flowers in one field–family ! But in this era of Kali-yug, each home is not a field but a garden–yes, a garden with a variety of flowers. Each member is a different type of flower ! 12 Adjusting at Home
  • 13. Home - A Garden  Now suppose you are rose, you expect all to be roses. You are ‘pink’ and you ask the other flower, “Why are you white? You too must be pink like me.” This is the way you go on complaining.  First learn the art of admiring and appreciating the ‘flowers’. You should know the type and natural tendency of each ‘flower’. And the ‘sapling or plants’ should be watched till they bear flowers.  From flowers, ascertain which ones are what, whether they are thorny or thorn-less. But never equate or compare one with the other. Rather, treat each flower-plant as per its type and tendency. 13
  • 14. Adjustment with servants If the cups are broken by the servant, the master will undergo mental torment, he abuses and scolds “ Are your hands broken? Are you blind?” Nobody intentionally breaks anything in the world. Sometimes all the family members blow their bugles at the servant together. Just imagine what would be the condition of the poor fellow. The servant will nurse enmity in his heart thinking “ I am poor so my master insults me in this way” In this business the cups were lost, that is loss number one. Second loss is grief and agony. And the third loss is you bound enmity with the servant. Dada Bhagwan has said - Just Stop at the first loss without incurring further losses.  NEVER BIND ENMITY. 14
  • 15. Self Enlightening Dictums of Dada Bhagwan 131. If you want to realise ultimate freedom, then ‘adjust everywhere’. 148. If you do not learn anything in worldly life, it’s OK; but always learn to adjust. One must adjust even when the other may misadjust and one will definitely cross the worldly ocean for sure. 1174. Absence of insistence makes one flexible, hence acceptable. 1269. Where you cannot adjust, requires strengthening yourself to adjust there. You are already strong everywhere else. 1460. All worldly dealings are relative and ‘all these relatives are temporary adjustments.’This understanding is very helpful in the path to liberation. 15
  • 16. Self Enlightening Dictums of Dada Bhagwan  1615. Whatever is outside in the world is within man too. All limitations outside are within man. Universe is outside as well as inside. When there is adjustment outside that follows spontaneous adjustments within; and then everything inside quietens!  2021. Adjusting with one and all is the greatest religion!  2022. If one does not adjust everywhere, he would lose the liberating path easily.  3690. River flows in its orderly way as does the world and one's physical existence is like a boat. The boat has to adjust, sail and reach the other shore safely and not the river. But people expect other way round and wreck their boat! 16
