Question 7
Looking back at your
preliminary task, what do you
feel you have learnt in the
progression from it?
Front cover
For my original front
cover I used a bright
green back ground and
the same font
throughout. I took a
photo of the model
against a door. I left a
vast amount of space
unfilled.
In comparison to my first
magazine this magazine
is totally different, this is
because I filled in all the
spaces with writing, I
cropped around the
model to make the
photo neater and
clearer I also kept in a
colour scheme to keep
it neat. I feel that I have
learnt a lot, gridlines
were perhaps the most
important thing for me
to learn as now my
magazine looks more
mature and a lot more
neat.
In comparison to both magazine
layouts, by far the best is MODE as I feel
I fully understood how to use
Photoshop and I feel this reflected in
my work.
Contents Page
I feel my Photoshop skills have
improved massively since I started,
by laying the columns out in a more
mature way I feel that my magazine
is more neat. I also didn’t keep a
plain coloured background and
added designs to make it more
interesting. By adding text I feel that
it makes the contents page more
interesting. The title is big and bold to
attract the readers attention and to
keep in style with the rest of the
magazine. I also added page
numbers and subheadings to make it
easier to read. Grid lines were
possibly the most important tool I
used this is because it kept it neat
and tidy and easier to read.
Double page spread
Although I didn’t do a double page
spread originally, in my opinion this is
perhaps because I did it last. My
double page spread is done in the
Q kind of style and is kept neat and
tidy with whites and reds. I feel this
gives it a more “in touch” feel and
keeps it modern and up to date, I
used Photoshop to make the model
curve around the quote therefore
making it more interesting I also put
a quote in the middle of the double
page spread as many magazines do
this and I feel it is more interesting to
do this.
